Virginia Tech vs Duke College Football Predictions, College Football Picks & College Football Odds: The Virginia Tech Hokies take on an ACC Coastal division rival again this week, but the Duke Blue Devils are not generating the same kind of buzz as the Miami Hurricanes. Nonetheless, Frank Beamer's squad will lace them up this afternoon and take to the field at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. This rivalry contest is set to kickoff at 12:00pm ET and can be viewed on ESPN360.com. College Football Predictions at Bodog.com have the Hokies listed as a -17.5 against the spread favorite.

Virginia Tech jumped to No. 6 in the rankings this week after pounding Miami 31-7 in Blacksburg last Saturday. The Hokies dominated the game from the get go, and led 21-0 at the break. Frank Beamer's defense took the Canes out of their game completely, limiting Harris and company to 209 yards, one third down conversion, and 12 first downs. Miami possessed the ball 26:40 and produced just 59 rush yards (1.7 yards per carry). According to Tech linebacker Cody Grimm, who finished the game with 11 tackles, the unit was trying to send a message.

"We felt like we were being a little disrespected," Grimm said. "We were defending ACC Champs and no one was talking about us having a chance in this game."

The Hokies offense did its part as well, racking up 370 yards, 272 of which came on the ground. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor completed 4-of-9 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown and he rushed 10 times for 75 yards. Running back Ryan Williams imposed his will on the Canes defense too, plowing his way through mucky Miami defenders for 150 yards and two touchdowns (34 carries).

The Blue Devils evened their record at 2-2 last Saturday, beating FCS squad North Carolina Central 44-16, and have now won as many games (8) in 2008 and 2009 as they did between the years 2003 and 2007. Head Coach David Cutcliffe, who is in his second season with Duke, watched his charges rack up 487 yards while limiting the Eagles to just 181. The Devils, under the leadership of senior quarterback Thaddeus Lewis, had 28 first downs, seven third down conversions, and controlled the ball for 35:13. Lewis finished the game 17-for-25 for 189 yards and two touchdowns.

Freshman running backs Desmond Scott and Patrick Kurunwune combined for 193 yards and two touchdowns in 30 carries. 

The Hokies won last year's meeting between these two squads 14-3 in Blacksburg. Lewis did not play due to injury and his offensive teammates produced just 136 yards in his absence. Zack Asack, who filled in for Lewis, threw four picks in the loss.

College Football Predictions Betting Trend: The Blue Devils are 0-15 straight up and 3-12 against the spread in their last 15 games as a home dog versus an ACC opponent.

Utah State vs. BYU College Football Picks: For the second week in a row, Utah State (1-2, 0-0 WAC) will tangle with an in-state foe when the Aggies travel to Provo, Utah to take on 20th-ranked Brigham Young (3-1, 1-0 MWC) on Friday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is slated for 9 p.m. ET from BYU's LaVell Edwards Stadium.  Friday's clash between the Aggies and Cougars will be televised on the MTN.

For a rivalry to exist, both teams need to win once in awhile. For the Utah State Aggies, winning against BYU hasn't  happened since 1993 and it isn't expected to happen Friday night either.

BYU covered well in the early going, as a +23 dog to Oklahoma in week 1 and as a 19-chalk favorite in week 2 at Tulane. Week 3 was a disaster at home versus Florida State losing big SU 28-54 as an 8 1/2-chalk favorite. In their last game, a home date with Colorado State in week 4, the Cougars got the SU win 42-23 but PUSHED ATS as a 19-chalk favorite.

In spite of trend numbers pointing to the Aggies covering tonight's betting line, public gamblers remain unconvinced having placed 69% of side wagers on BYU. The public expects tonight's affair to be high scoring as 60% of total bets are on the OVER.

Pitt vs. Louisville College Football Picks:The Pitt Panthers and Louisville Cardinals match-up on Friday getting each schools 2009 college football BIG EAST campaign underway in a battle at Papa John's Stadium in Louisville with an 8:05 PM (ESPN2) kickoff.

The fact that Pitt is coming into this game as the favorite - on the road- is not making Louisville backers very happy. It's not that Pitt has anything to do with the state of displeasure. it's the fact that the Louisville program has slipped while under head coach Steve Kragthorpe, who is about to be four-games into his third season. The coach says the Louisville team is making progress while the numbers hum a different tune. Louisville is 1-2 and ranks last in the BIG EAST in scoring offense, pass efficiency, rushin gdefense, kickoff coverage, sacks and first downs. That doesn't say alot for a team making progress. Louisville's only win came in week 1 against FCS Indiana State but has since lost two straight games to FBS schools Kentucky and Utah.

Pitt backers are equally restless as the Louisville folks. Pitt only has one conference championship since the league formed in 1993 and backers are wanting satisfaction in 2009. The Panthers were picked by many pundits in the pre-season to be the leagues best and want to see the team step up and show they can win. Pitt did not show much moxie last week when they choked away a 10-point early  lead and lost 31-38 to NC State.

Wins against Youngstown State, Buffalo and Navy are nice but fans expect Pitt to win those games. They want to see a championship and expect the drive for that goal is tonight versus the Cardinals.

College Football Picks: Pitt is the better team but not by much. Take the Cardinals as a home dog +7.

Oklahoma vs Miami College Football Odds, College Football Predictions & College Football Picks: The Oklahoma Sooners and the Miami Hurricanes will meet for the second time in the last three seasons when they face off at Landshark Stadium tomorrow night in Miami, Florida. Bob Stoops' Sooners got the better of things in the last game, winning 51-13 in Norman. The two Top 25 squads are both 2-1 entering the highly anticipated clash, which is set to kickoff at 8:00pm ET ABC. Oklahoma improved to 2-1 on September 19th beating the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 45-0 in Norman, Oklahoma. The Sooners racked up 529 yards, 27 first downs, and 11 third down conversions in the easy win. Quarterback Landry Jones, filling in for the injured Sam Bradford, threw a school record six touchdowns while completing 25-of-37 passes for 336 yards. Jones was complimented by a ground game that produced 193 yards at 4.3 yards per carry. Backs DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown combined for 133 yards in just 16 carries.

The Oklahoma defense limited Tulsa to 269 yards and six of 18 on third down in the victory. The Sooners have not allowed a point since giving up 14 to BYU in their season opening loss. On the season they are giving up an average of 223.3 yards and 4.7 points per game.

Miami generated a lot of hype leading up to last Saturday's Virginia Tech game, beating Florida State and Georgia Tech. Those wins suddenly do not look so great after the Canes got thumped 31-7 by the Hokies in Blacksburg. Miami managed a total of 209 yards and one third down conversion in the conference loss. Quarterback Jacory Harris, who looked brilliant in the team's first two games, had an awful day, completing 9-of-25 passes for 150 yards and an interception. The Hurricanes rushing attack failed to provide in relief for Harris, gaining just 59 yards (1.7 yards per carry).

Miami's defense got gashed for 272 rush yards, which allowed Tech to hold the ball for 33:20 compared to the Canes 26:40. Hokies running back Ryan Williams did most of the damage to Randy Shannon's front seven, rushing the ball 34 times for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Game Notes: Sam Bradford has been ruled out for tomorrow night's game. Landry Jones will continue to start in the Heisman Trophy winner's place.

College Football Odds Betting Trend: Miami is 4-10 against the spread over the last five years playing as a home team coming off a loss.
