Week 4 College Football Predictions and OddsWeek 4 College Predictions and Odds: There will be plenty of college football betting action as Week-4 of College Football 2008 gets underway early with three big week-night games. Louisville and Kansas State get things started Wednesday followed by two mammoth BIG EAST vs. BIG-12 clashes between Colorado and West Virginia on Thursday and Baylor visiting Connecticut Friday. Of course the usual full slate of college action takes place Saturday with some really big games including two huge SEC battles; Tennessee vs. Florida and LSU at Auburn.

Oddsmakers at online sportsbook JustBet.com has Kansas State favored by -4 as a road favorite at Louisville. The Cardinals (1-1 SU, 0-1 ATS) are trying to emphasize defense this year while Kansas State (2-0 SU, 1-0 ATS) is making attempts to amp up its offense.

Wednesday nights affair should be a good game to watch but making a pick here is risky since very little is known of either team. We see this game as a pick so our pick is Louisville +4 at home.

West Virginia (1-1 SU) will be looking to rebound from its humiliating loss to East Carolina in Week-2 when it visits Colorado Thursday night. The Mountaineers are giving -3 points ATS while the total is at 56 ½. Colorado is 2-0 SU however has shown some vulnerability, especially against Week-2 opponent FCS Eastern Washington. This is a must win for the Mountaineers if they hope to be part of the national title picture this season. We like a total bet in this game; OVER 56 ½. Both defenses have their issues while the Mountaineers and Buffaloes have shown the ability to score points.

Having regrouped from losing their opener a 41-13 loss to Wake Forest with wins over FCS Northwestern State (Louisiana) and Washington State, the Baylor Bears face a stiff challenge Friday night when they go on the road to play UConn. JustBet.com has the Huskies favored by -12 in this one. UConn has been impressive in the early going with a 3-0 SU record including a 45-10 home victory over Virginia last week. We like the way Baylor has bowed its neck and come out fighting but UConn is a tough venue for a team trying to find its way. Take the Huskies -12 in this game.

Two of the best cover (ATS) teams go at it Saturday when Temple and No. 16 Penn State kick it off at Noon in Happy Valley. The Owls lead the nation as a cover team going 3-0 ATS while the Nittany Lions are 2-0 ATS. Penn State is giving 28 points in this one. Our advice is take the Owls and the points. Temple will be the best team Penn State has faced in 2008 and the only team that makes any attempt of playing defense.

After thoroughly getting mashed 35-3 by the USC Trojans in Week-3 as an 11-point underdog, the Ohio State Buckeyes must face another team that calls itself Troy. This time OSU is giving 21-points as a home favorite in Columbus, Ohio against the Troy University Trojans. While in the minds of the uninformed this game appears to be a pushover. Keep in mind that Troy is probably the best team in the Sun Belt Conference. Teams from the Sun Belt already have wins over BCS teams Texas A&M and Maryland. Face it folks, the Buckeyes have issues. We like Troy +21.

No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide heads to Arkansas for its annual slobber-knocker with the Razorbacks. The Tide are  -9 ½ point road favorites in this one. For some reason oddsmakers are wary of this game and you should be too. The Hogs offense has shown plenty of explosiveness while its defense and special teams have been terrible. With an unscheduled bye-week following Week-3’s Texas game postponement, Bobby Petrino and his staff have had extra time to fix a few problems. If Petrino can get his system cranking, they have the ability and talent to disrupt anybody’s season. That’s just what Alabama coach Nick Saban hopes to avoid. The Tide should prevail but if they come out sloppy early and allow Arkansas to hang around, trouble could ensue. The past few years these games have been close. This year should be no different. We like Arkansas +9 ½.

Other great Saturday match-ups and their betting odds. All odds provided by online sportsbook JustBet.com.

Ole Miss -6 ½ vs. Vanderbilt; Commodores cover ATS.

Georgia Tech -8 vs. Mississippi State; Dogs are better at home, Tech wins and covers -8.

Auburn +3 ½ vs. LSU; Tigers by field goal, but which Tigers? Pick one!

BYU -28 ½ vs. Wyoming; There will be some post-UCLA let down. Cowboys +28 ½.

North Carolina -3 vs. Virginia Tech; Tar Heels return to being Tar Heels and blow it.

Florida State -4 vs. Wake Forest; Seminoles win big against over rated Demon Deacons.

Michigan State -9 vs. Notre Dame; Take the Irish and the points.

Oregon -10 ½ vs. Boise State; Historically BSU isn’t very good at PAC 10 venue.

Texas A&M +4 vs. Miami (Canes); Miami wins a big one on the road -4.

Mizzou -37 ½ vs. Buffalo; Bulls will score some points and cover +37 ½.

Tennessee +7 vs. Florida; Doesn’t have the same luster as in the past, Vols +7.

College Football Picks: Louisville Cardinals vs Kansas State Wildcats PDF Print E-mail

College Football Picks: Louisville Cardinals vs. Kansas State Wildcats; Betting Line,KSU -4 (total 55.5); Kickoff 8 p.m. ET; Television, ESPN2; Papa John's Stadium, Louisville, Kentucky.

The Kansas State University football team , known for scheduling weak non-conference opponents, is stepping out of its comfort zone by traveling to play the University of Louisville Cardinals in a rare Wednesday night (8 PM ET) affair at Papa John’s Stadium in Louisville, Ky. Oddsmakers at online sportsbook LooseLines.com have installed KSU the favorite by a 4-point chalk with a 55 total.

In the early going this season, the Wildcats have amassed a 2-0 SU and 1-0 ATS record while the Cardinals are 1-1 SU and 0-1 ATS.

Louisville opened its season on the road at Kentucky losing 27-2 followed by a 51-10 win in Week-2 over FCS Tennessee Tech.

[pictured: Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe will lead his Louisville Cardinals onto the field at Papa John's Stadium for a rare Wednesday night game against Kansas State. Louisville is a +4 home underdog.]

Kansas State faced the usual lineup of cup-cakes in its two early games pounding North Texas 45-6 in its opener followed by a lopsided win over FCS Montana State 69-10 in Week-2.

Both Louisville and Kansas State had a bye in Week-3 to prepare for the early week match-up tonight.

The Wildcats are averaging 57.0 points per game behind one of the top passing offenses in the country. Led by junior quarterback Josh Freeman, the Wildcats are averaging 305.0 yards through the air in two games. He's completing 75.6 percent of his throws and has already tossed five touchdown passes.

Defensively, Kansas State is allowing just 8.0 points per game and just 198.0 yards of total offense.

After scoring two points in a loss to Kentucky on Aug. 31, Louisville exploded for the third-highest point total in coach Steve Kragthorpe's tenure against Tennessee Tech. Redshirt freshman Victor Anderson rushed for a career-high 114 yards on just 12 carries, including his first collegiate touchdown. Senior Hunter Cantwell was 15-of-23 for 203 yards and two scores and was mistake-free after throwing three interceptions against UK.

College Football Pick: I see this game as a pick so I’ll go with the Cardinals at home +4. I consider this game as a high risk play on either side because the jury is still out on both teams.

Kansas State vs Louisville College Football Betting Odds Preview PDF Print E-mail
Written by Dave Price

Kansas State/Louisville College Football Betting Preview The Kansas State Wildcats head to Louisville, Kentucky to take on the Cardinals in a Humpday matchup between BCS conferences on ESPN 2. JustBet odds makers have listed the road Wildcats as 3.5-point favorites. Expert Football Handicapper Dave Price's Kansas State vs Louisville preview will help you beat the college football betting odds in this Wednesday night matchup.

Kansas State comes into this one 2-0 after blowing out Montana State 69-10 and North Texas 45-6. Kansas State will have had 11 days of preparation to get ready for its toughest non-conference opponent of the season, the Louisville Cardinals. While Louisville is perceived to be down, this game will give us a better indication of the state of the Wildcats.

Although it's too early to tell for sure, it appears that QB Josh Freeman has made the necessary strides in the poise department. He has looked incredibly poised in K-State's two wins, tearing apart opposing secondaries on his way to a 209.3 pass efficiency rating tops of any QB in the Big 12 Conference thus far. In order for Freeman to continue to post gaudy numbers against better competition, the running game is going to have to be able to complement him and thus far it is inconclusive as to whether that will be able to happen.

Running back Keithen Valentine is a junior college transfer who walked on to earn a starting spot. He gained 39 yards on 12 carries against Montana State. While his hard work has paid off, the fact that K-State has a juco walk-on at starting tailback may be the answer we were looking for in respect to the state of the running game.

The Wildcats have been able to do what able the want on the defensive side of the ball in the early going. They produced four turnovers against Montana State, including a fumble return for a touchdown. This is precisely the type of big play defense that head coach Ron Prince has been trying to install.

There are a couple players for K-State that could be very key to whether the Wildcats come away with a win. Cornerback Courtney Herndon is one of those players. Herndon is a special teams ace and was huge in K-State's win over Montana State. He returned a fumble 43 yards for a score, blocked a punt that the Wildcats recovered in the end zone for a touchdown, and returned an interception 26 yards to set up another score.

Place kicker Brooks Rossman is the other guy that the Cats will depend a great deal on this week. He is 3-for-3 on field goal attempts and 15-for-15 on PAT's in the early going. Bet Kansas State Wildcats -3.5 points to cover the spread at BetUS.

After a terrible loss to rival Kentucky to start the season, the Cardinals came storming back with a 51-10 rout of Tennessee Tech last week. Louisville knows that the Wildcats will be a much tougher opponent. Heading into this season, the Cards have dropped the game following a loss to Kentucky four of the last five times so perhaps last week's win was a good omen.

Louisville knows it will have to take care of the football if it wants to be victorious this weekend. The Cards turned the ball over five times against the Kentucky Wildcats in their opener game loss.

It was good to get a solid game under the belt of QB Hunter Cantwell as Louisville nears league play. Cantwell went 15 of 23 for 203 yards and two touchdowns last week.

Louisville's defense also played well last week and has really been solid in seven of eight quarters this season. The Cards held Tennessee Tech to just 33 yards rushing.

Running Back Victor Anderson will have to have a big game for the Cards to come out on top. He carried 12 times for 114 yards and a score last week. On the defensive side of the ball, watch for linebacker Chris Campa to come up big. He replaced Antwon Canady last week because of his speed going against the Tennessee Tech spread offense and came up with an interception. If you like Louisville to cover the spread at home, bet the Louisville Cardinals +4 points at Bookmaker.

College Football’s biggest betting winners after Week 3 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Reno Gold

College Football’s biggest betting winners after Week 3After three weekends of college football in 2008 , most schools have played at least two games and most have played three. So prior to making your bets for next week’s games, let’s take a look at who’s good at putting money in your pockets by covering the betting point-spread (ATS). Who are college footballs biggest betting winners after week 3?

With a little help from Sportsbook.com , we found only two schools, Vanderbilt and Temple, whose teams have won ATS three times. The Commodores are also 3-0 SU while Temple is 1-2. Both schools have big games in Week-4 and in our opinion, have a good chance to stretch their ATS run to 4-0. Vanderbilt goes to Ole Miss as a + 6 ½ -point underdog while Temple is a four-touchdown dog (+28) playing Penn State on the road. Penn State is also unblemished ATS at 2-0 but will have its stiffest test ATS with the Owls.

[pictured: Vanderbilt quarterback Chris Nickson has guided the Commodores to a 3-0 SU and ATS record.]

When talking about the betting spread, it’s equally as important to know who has been bad at covering the line. So who is bad against the spread? How about Ohio State at 0-2. The Buckeyes squeaked past the Bobcats of Ohio in Week-2 winning SU 26-14 but failing as a 34-point favorite. Then the whole world witnessed the Buckeyes getting blasted 35-3 at USC  as an 11-point road dog.

College Football Picks: Georgia at South Carolina PDF Print E-mail
Written by Benton Vale
Saturday, 13 September 2008

College Football Picks: Georgia Bulldogs at South Carolina Gamecocks; Betting Line- UGA - 7 (Total 43) Television- CBS; Kickoff 3:30 PM ET; Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, S.C. (Online betting odds provided by LooseLines.com.

If there is a revenge game this is the one. The Georgia Bulldogs finished near the top of the polls in 2007 but had one blemish that could have kept them out of the national championship picture.  South Carolina upset 11th-ranked Georgia 16-12 in Athens. South Carolina has been Georgia's first SEC opponent since the Gamecocks joined the league in 1992. Five of the seven games between these teams under coach Mark Richt have been decided by six points or less.

While today’s game might not be a blow-out, we feel the seven point line is “Georgia friendly.” The trend says the final outcome will be seven or less points but trends also come to an end.

Oddsmakers at online sportsbook LooseLines.com have installed the Bulldogs as 7-point favorites ATS and -243 on the money lnie with a 43 total. South Carolina backers are getting +230 money line odds as a home underdog.

South Carolina’s achilles heel has been defending against the run, something Georgia does very well. In last years game the Bulldogs were feeling their way and the Gamecocks caught them at the right time.

Point-Spreads.com pick ...Georgia wins by double-digits.
