The Arizona State Sun Devils are a club you must keep your eye on in 2006. Their offense is electric, but their defense must step up if they intend on making any noise in the PAC 10 this year.  The Sun devils return 12 starters; eight of which come on the offensive side of the ball, so expect the offense to once again be one of the best in the country. They're loaded at the quarterback position with Rudy Carpenter and Sam Keller. Both are capable of putting up eye-popping stats with this attack. The offensive line is simply the best Arizona State has trotted out on the field in years, and running back Keegan Herring is back off his electric frosh debut. The wide receiver corps loses a major impact player, but is still stockpiled with tons of talent and shouldn't fall off that much.


The defense only returns four starters, but that could be good considering they surrendered points in bunches a year ago. The defensive line will see an influx of transferred talent that the coaching staff hopes will get better pressure on opposing quarterback's since they lost their two best line backer's and the secondaries almost completely retooled. Special teams looks to be a positive with kicker/punter Jesse Ainsworth, and a plethora of speedy returnmen back. With the talent the Sun Devils have on hand, look for them to lace up their bowling shoes come the second season.
