Army vs. Navy College Football Picks: College Football Week 15 kicks off on Saturday with only one football game, the nation's best rivalry, the Army – Navy game. Navy (8-4) is already bowl qualified but at 5-6 Army needs one more win to secure a bowl bid. The Black Knights would like nothing more than to get that win at the expense of the Midshipmen. CBS will televised the game from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia with kickoff set for 2:30 pm ET.
College football picks oddsmakers at online sportsbook SBGglobal.com list the Midshipmen as 15 1/2-chalk favorites with a 41 1/2 total.
Army has not been to a bowl game since the 1996 Independence Bowl. If the Black Knights can knock off the favored Midshipmen, they will earn a bid to the EagleBank Bowl to play Temple.
The Black Knights will have difficulty handling Navy's rushing attack, the No. 3 ranked rushing unit in the nation. The Midshipmen offense is led by quarterback Ricky Dobbs. The junior has completed 44 of his 84 passing attempts for 840 yards with four TDs and two interceptions on the season. While impressive through the air, Dobbs also leads the Navy ground game with 924 yards and 23 touchdowns in facilitating the Mids' triple-option offense.
Dobbs has collected a school-record 23 rushing touchdowns, tying the NCAA mark for rushing scores in a season by a quarterback. Dobbs and junior fullback Vince Murray need 76 and 116 yards, respectively, to become just the second backfield tandem in Naval Academy history to rush for 1,000 yards concurrently. Murray is second on the team behind Dobbs with 884 yards and six TDs.
Army rallied from a halftime deficit in Week 12 to pick up a 17-13 win over North Texas. The Black Knights won that game as a pick'em, while the combined score fell UNDER the day's posted total (53.5).
Navy was defeated 24-17 by Hawaii as a 9.5-point favorite in Week 13. That game's 41 points went UNDER the posted total of 56. Ricky Dobbs ran for a 55-yard rushing touchdown to lead the Navy in the loss.
College football gamblers should take the Middies in this game. Army's program is not on par with Navy right now and it will show.
