The Nebraska Cornerhuskers came on strong in the second half to crush the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs team in the college football season opener which kicked off on Saturday, September 2nd, 2006 at 3:30 PM EST.

The bright spot for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs offense was in the second quarter when wide receiver Johnathan Holland caught a beautiful 40 yard 1 handed catch that he tipped toed into the end zone for a touchdown. The perfect pass was the first college career touchdown pass from quarterback Zac Champion but the grab by Holland, the WAC 60 meter indoor champion sprinter, was the better to watch. The speedy wide receiver ended the day with 4 catches for 110 yards and 1 touchdown.
