Cowboys Hope To Corral Longhorns In AustinOklahoma State (5-3, 2-2 Big 12), coming off a 41-29 home win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, travels to Austin Texas on Saturday (Nov 4) to face the No. 5 Texas Longhorns (8-1, 5-0 Big 12) at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. (EST) kickoff. The game is to be televised nationally by TBS.

The Longhorns’ will look to tie the school record for the longest conference victory streak after winning their 20th consecutive Big 12 game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Horns also own the Big 12’s longest intra-conference home victory string at 25 straight Big 12 home wins. Texas has begun Big 12 play with five straight wins for the second consecutive year and for only the second time in school history.

Texas enters the Oklahoma State game with an 18-2 series advantage, including 12-1 in Austin. The Longhorns have had to make comebacks in each of the last two games to pull out victories. The Horns won last year in Stillwater, 47-28, after trailing 28-9. The year before in Austin, Texas rallied from a 35-7 deficit to win, 56-35, posting the largest comeback in school history.

The Cowboys will face a Texas squad that is allowing just 41.2 rushing yards per game, which ranks second in the nation while the Cowboys rank second in the Big 12 and ninth in the country in rushing offense recording 211.2 yards on the ground per game.

Cowboy’s running back Junior Dantrell Savage, who ran for 117 yards and two touchdowns last Saturday against Nebraska, is fifth in the league in rushing with 69.5 yards per contest. Sophomore runner Mike Hamilton’s 63.1 yards per game ranks ninth in the conference.

The Longhorns’ offense hasn’t been too shabby either. Texas ranks first in the Big 12 and fourth in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 39.6 points per game.  Mack Brown’s club has failed to reach double digits just once this season, a 24-7 loss to No. 1 Ohio State at home on Sept. 9th.

The Longhorns have been installed as a 17.5-point home favorite over Oklahoma State, a team that has only come up short 14 points in all three of its losses this season.  The Cowboys will be flying high and looking for an impact win at Austin this Saturday. Oklahoma State will find it difficult coming out of Texas with a win but covering the chalk is a strong possibility.
