FedEx Orange Bowl: Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. Louisville CardinalsThe No.15 Wake Forest Demon Deacons, winners of the ACC will play the Big East Conference champions, No. 5 University of Louisville Cardinals in the FedEx Orange Bowl at Dolphin Stadium in Miami on Jan 2 at 8 p.m. (EST).

Louisville (11-1) won its first Big East Championship and earned the league’s automatic berth to the BCS with a 48-17 win over Connecticut at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium and by way of West Virginia’s thrilling 41-39 triple overtime win over Rutgers.

Wake Forest (11-2), advanced to the Orange Bowl after defeating Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship game in Jacksonville, Fla. Wake Forest opened the year at 5-0 before falling to Clemson. The Demon Deacons have closed the season by winning six of their last seven games.

Louisville is making its first appearance in the BCS and has advanced to a bowl game for the ninth straight season, which is tied for the seventh-longest streak in the nation.

The Cardinals, who moved to fifth in Associated Press Poll, rolls into post-season play having won three straight games and are averaging 42.3 points per game during that span. Junior quarterback Brian Brohm has thrown 10 touchdown passes in the last three wins, while junior wide receiver Harry Douglas has caught 16 passes for 367 yards and five touchdowns

The Demon Deacons have one of the nation’s stingiest defenses, ranking in the top 10 in scoring defense and allowing just 14.69 points per game. Wake Forest has limited eight of their opponents to 14 points or less. John Abbate leads the Deacons with 105 tackles. The Demon Deacons lead the country with 22 interceptions and are fifth in the country in turnover margin. Offensively, Riley Skinner is completing 66.1 percent of his throws and has thrown for 1,780 yards.

The Cardinals were installed as – 9 ½ point favorites over Wake Forest when betting opened in Las Vegas and has since moved favoring Louisville -10. Offshore the line is favoring the Cardinals -10 ½. The total is set at 52 ½ after opening at 51.
