Longhorns can clinch Big 12 South with win over AggiesAfter having its Big 12 record 21-game conference winning streak snapped by Kansas State, No.11 Texas (9-2, 6-1 Big 12) looks to rebound against Texas A&M (8-3, 4-3 Big 12) in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Friday, Nov. 24 at 12:00 Noon (EST) and televised nationally by ABC. The Aggies are coming off a loss to Nebraska, 28-27.

With a victory, the Horns would clinch at least a share of the Big 12 South title for the sixth time in the 11 years of the Big 12 and for the fifth time under head coach Mack Brown.

The Longhorns expect to have starting red-shirt freshman quarterback Colt McCoy back under center against the Aggies . McCoy injured his shoulder in the first quarter after rushing for a touchdown on the opening drive against Kansas State. McCoy has completed 174-of-250 passes for 2,102 yards with a team record 27 touchdowns and has been picked off only four times this year.

Texas A&M sophomore quarterback Stephen McGee is 4-0 in starts away from Kyle Field in College Station. Prior to McGee’s ascension to starting quarterback, the Aggies were 3-13 in road games during head coach Dennis Franchione’s tenure. With his 244 yards of passing and 58-yards rushing against Nebraska, McGee became the nation’s first quarterback to log more than 2,000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in 2006.

Texas A&M has been more impressive on the betting boards this year than their Texas rivals going 7-2-1 ATS as opposed to 4-5 for the Horns.

The Longhorns are favored over the Aggies at most sports books by a -13-point chalk with a total of 57.5. Public money seems to be going with the favorite at 57% while a whopping 89% like the OVER- 57 in totals betting.

This is one of the most intense rivalries in college football history and a game where rankings and records don’t really matter. The Texas defense has had problems this season and  likewise will have problems containing the duel threat of McGee and the Aggie offense. The Horns will probably win this game but look for the Aggies to cover the +13-point chalk on the road.
