The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs finished last season with wins in five of their last six games, including a huge win over Fresno State that killed the Bulldogs' chance at a Western Athletic Conference Championship. The hot streak led to a contract extension for head coach Jack Bicknell III. He brings back a talent filled roster but one without many starters from 2005.
This unit could very well be a strong point for the Bulldogs early. This is an inexperienced Bulldogs team very much in rebuilding mode. They have a harsh schedule, especially non conference, and have to play at Boise and Hawaii and then there's November 24, 2006 when they are visited by Fresno State, with revenge on their minds.
Bet on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to win the 2006 WAC Championship Title here.
But eight return to an offense that features a pair of strong running back prospects. The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will rely on the rush behind an adequate offensive line until Bicknell and Company feel okay with their new quarterback throwing the ball.
A dilapidated defense (only two starters returning) will have new faces across the defensive line and at three of four starting line backer spots. But fifty percent of Louisiana Tech's secondary depth returns from last season, although it loses its top 1st Team Western Athletic Conference cornerback so pass defense could be a problem. WAC scoring and field goal per game leader kicker Danny Horwedel is back, as are stellar return men Weldon Brown and Jackson.
