In a battle for the Bayou, the LSU Tigers stomped all over the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns in Tiger Stadium in the college football season opener on Saturday, September 2nd, 2006 at 8:00 PM EST.


JaMarcus Russell excelled at quarterback for the Tigers.  Russell was 13 for 17 and threw for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Matt Flynn was able to come in for part of the second half to get some valuable experience at quarterback.

Many of the offensive players for the Tigers were able to get the ball.  Eight players caught receptipns and four players ran for positive yardage from the line of scrimmage.


The only highlight for the Ragin Canjuns was a 40 yard long range field goal by kicker Drew Edminston.


LSU Tigers play the Arizona Wildcats of the PAC 10 in a non conference game on September 9th, 2006 and then travel to Auburn to play their SEC West rivals.

1st Quarter: Ragin Cajuns 0 - LSU 14
LSU Quarterback JaMarcus Russell threw a 58 yard touchdown pass to Brandon LaFell.  Defender Jonathan Zenon scored on an interception return.


2nd Quarter: Ragin Cajuns 3 - LSU 28
Ragin Cajuns kicker Drew Edmiston kicked a 40 yard field goal.  Paul Coryell caught a 17 yard pass from Russell.  Dwayne Bowe scored on a 28 yard touchdown pass from Russell.


3rd Quarter: Ragin Cajuns 3 - LSU 35
Running back Jacob Hester scored on a 3 yard run concluding a 88 yard drive with took up 5 minutes and 22 seconds on 10 plays.


4th Quarter: Ragin Cajuns 3 - LSU 45
Alley Broussard scored on a 3 yard touchdown run for the Tigers.  Ryan Gaudet kicked a 33 yard field goal for the Tigers.
