In a move that will certainly have National Championship implications, Larry Coker suspended four Miami Hurricanes football players for violations of team policies. Running back Tyrone Moss, linebacker James Bryant, receivers Ryan Moore and Rashaun Jones will all miss the September 4th, 2006 season opener against rival Florida State. Moore will also be suspended for game two against Florida A&M. Moore is familiar with getting in trouble with Coker, he missed the 2006 Peach Bowl against LSU.
Coker did not elaborate on the details of the suspensions, however a team spokesman said the suspensions were not based on the same incident. "We're a program of quality kids," Coker stated. "But we've got to get this message across." Coker was widely criticized by analysts and Miami Hurricanes Alumni after a disappointing 9-3 season and their huge lost to LSU in the Peach Bowl, which resulted in several key coaching changes.Starting senior running back Tyrone Moss will be replaced by junior Charlie Jones, who rushed for 507 yards last season.Coker stated, "It has been a tough off season" referring to former top recruit Willie Williams desire to be transferred and the shooting incident involving Willie Cooper. This set back will hurt Miami’s chance at redeeming themselves after a tough 10-7 lost at Doak Campbell Stadium last year. The line on the game dropped from the Hurricanes -6.5 to -3 on the news.Checkout the latest College Football Sports Odds.
