Three Minnesota Gophers football players were arrested on suspicion of rape. Junior Alex Daniels and sophomores Keith Massey and E.J. Jones are accused of raping an 18-year-old. The three players were booked on criminal sexual conduct in the third degree. And that usually does involve penetration, nonconsensual penetration.
Bail for the three college football players was set at $100,000.00 and prosecutors have until Monday to file charges against them before they are released.
Without a game under his belt, Gophers head coach Tim Brewster is already facing his first crisis in Minnesota. Brewster was forceful and direct when he addressed the media Saturday and informed them that the players would be suspended until the investigation is completed.
“Situations are going to come up and we are going to handle them and move on,” Brewster said. “We are going to represent this state in a great way.”
The alleged rape occurred late Tuesday or early Wednesday at an off-campus apartment where the players live. The victim, whose identity was not released, is not a student at the university and did not live in the apartments. She was later examined at an area hospital.
