 UAB Blazers: 17 Oklahoma Sooners: 24 The Oklahoma Sooners sweeked out a hard fought win over the UAB Blazers on Saturday, September 2nd, 2006. The game kicked off in Norman at 7:00 PM EST. Big tight end Joe Jon Finley caught a 21 yard pass from Paul Thompson to give the Oklahoma Sooners the early lead. UAB battled back and was able to score on 5 yard run. Adrian Peterson rushed 9 times for 56 yards and zero touchdowns in the first half but the real story of the first half was the Sooners turnovers. UAB's defense was able to intercept Paul Thompson two times. A disppointed Oklahoma team went into the locker room tied at the half. Adrian Peterson broke the tie in the third quarter with a 4 yard touchdown run. Peterson ended the day with 22 carries and 113 yards and 1 touchdowns. UAB answered right back with a 24 yard pass from Sam Hunt to Corey White for his second touchdown of the night. Sooner quarterback Paul Thompson ended the day with 14 completions on 24 attempts and 232 yards with 2 touchdown and the two interceptions he threw in the first half of the game. Both teams battled back and forth the entire game. Oklahoma takes on two PAC 10 teams in their next two games, The Sooners play the Washington Huskies on September 9th, 2006 and then head up to Oregon to play the Ducks on September 16th, 2006. UAB will play East Carolina on September 9th, 2006 and then travels to face a tough Georgia Bulldogs team in Athens on September 16th, 2006. The score concluded a 2 play drive that went 47 yards in 37 seconds. 2nd Quarter: UAB 7 - Oklahoma Sooners 7 Corey White scored a touchdown on a 5 yard run, The score ended a 15 play drive that took 7 minutes and 26 seconds and went 80 yards. 3rd Quarter: UAB 17 - Oklahoma Sooners 21 Sooners running back Adrian Peterson scored a 4 yard rushing touchdown after a 4 play drive that went 61 yards in two minutes 18 seconds. Corey White scored on a 24 yard touchdown pass from Sam Hunt for UAB. Swayze Waters nailed a 32 yard field goal for UAB.
