![]() Stanford Cardinal: 10 Oregon Ducks: 48 In a PAC 10 Conference clash, the Oregon Ducks crushed the Stanford Cardinals at Auzten Stadium on the opening day of the college football season. The game was high scoring which is expected in the PAC 10 since they have a history and reputation for high scoring shoot outs in the West. In this case, the Ducks quacked their way to an easy win. Quarterback David Dixon completed 18 of 27 passes and threw for 218 yards and 1 touchdowns in the win. Ducks running back Jonathan Stewart had a monster day gaining 161 rushing yards on 22 carries and 2 touchdowns. The Stanford Cardinals had several chances early in the game but either turned the ball over or did not capitalize on some mistakes made by the Oregon Ducks offense. The Oregon Ducks head to Fresno State to take on the Bulldogs on September 9th, 2006 and then return home to play the Oklahoma Sooners on September 16th, 2006 in a tough non conference match up. Stanford Cardinals vs. Oregon Ducks Highlights and Game Recap 1st Quarter: Stanford Cardinals 3 - Oregon Ducks 3 Ducks kicker Paul Martinez kicked a 35 yard field goal capping off a 12 play drive for 15 yards. Stanford answered back with a 34 yard field goal by kicker Aaron Zagory. 2nd Quarter: Stanford Cardinals 10 - Oregon Ducks 27 Oregon running back Jonathan Stewart rushed in for a 1 yard touchdown run to cap off a 10 play, 46 yard drive which ate up a little over 11 minutes. Ducks quarterback Dennis Dixon threw a 15 yard touchdown pass to Jaison Williams. The Cardinals capped off a 9 play, 67 yard drive with a 31 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Trent Edwards to Mark Bradford. Stewart took in a 3 yard touchdown run for the Ducks right before kicker Paul Martinez stuck a 24 yard field goal. 3rd Quarter: Stanford Cardinals 10 - Oregon Ducks 34 Ducks quarterback runs for a 2 yard touchdown after a 10 play drive for 58 yards which took up a little over five minutes. 4th Quarter: Stanford Cardinals 10 - Oregon Ducks 48 Jeremiah Johnson scored on a 3 yard run capping off a 7 play drive that lasted 1 minute and 25 seconds and went 58 yards. Oregon defender AJ Tuitele returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown. |
