Some experts believed there was a chance of a blowout but no one thought it would be the Florida Gators routing the Ohio State Buckeyes 41-14 to claim the BCS Championship Title. Gators fans that layed the seven points are very happy tonight.
The game was over by halftime but it did not look as though that would be the case at the start of the game. Ted Ginn Jr. returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown, but injured his left leg soon after and missed most of the game.
Many Florida Gators fans were scratching their heads in disbelief after Ginn scored. The worry turned to joy however once the Gators scored on their first possession to tie the game at 7-7. From that point on, the Gators never looked back.
The Gators offense dominated the Ohio State defense but the big surprise of the game was how ineffective the Buckeyes offense was against Florida's defense. Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith could not get anything going and was pressured often by the front four of the Gators all night long.
It is the first time in history that the reigning college basketball and college football champions were from the same university.
Ten years early, the Gators beat Florida State 52-10 in their only other college football National Championship. The Point-Spreads.com staff would like to congratulate Urban Meyers and all of the players of the University of Florida football team.
