Week 2 College Football Predictions and OddsCollege football gamblers can now turn their attention to week-two of the 2008 college football season, now that week-one is in the archives. If week-two is anywhere near as fun and shocking as the first, handicappers, bookies and the betting public will be in for another wild ride.

Now that we are on the cusp of another great week of college football, we [Point-Spreads.com] want to give you some good betting tips for key games this weekend beginning with Thursday night’s ESPN game. All odds are provided by online wagering leader Sportsbook.com.

Starting Thursday, the ‘Old Ball Coach’ Steve Spurrier takes his Gamecocks to Nashville to play the Vanderbilt Commodores. Vandy is listed as a double-digit home underdog. We say-Hogwash! Vandy plucks the rooster +10. Vandy and Carolina are both 1-0 SU and ATS with wins last week (ESPN).

Friday night Navy docks its ship in Muncie, Ind ., for a game with Ball State. The Midshipmen are listed as underdogs by a +7 chalk. The Cardinals will have a difficult time containing the Midshipmen and their triple-option attack (ESPN). Navy and Ball State are each 1-0 after defeating FCS level schools in week-one.

Georgia Tech travels to Chestnut Hill for an ACC clash with Boston College. The Yellow Jackets, beginning a new era under former Navy coach Paul Johnson, are listed as 7-point underdogs to the Eagles in this one. Though BC lost its star power in quarterback Matt Ryan, the Eagles have plenty of weapons to hold off Johnson’s Wrambling Wreck. The Yellow Jackets and Eagles are both 1-0. BC defeated Kent State and Tech defeated Jcksonville State (FCS) 41-14. Kickoff is set for Noon ET. TV-Raycom/ESPN-GP.

The Temple Owls will be a team gamblers need to keep a close eye on in 2008. Last week the Owls blasted Army on the road 35-7 easily covering the -7 ½ chalk. This veteran Temple team will be laying in wait for the Huskies of UConn on Saturday. Oddsmakers list the Huskies the favorite -7 ½. A home win by Temple here will make a statement. Kickoff 12:00 PM at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field. TV-ESPNU.

We are hearing good things out of Hattiesburg, Miss ., where Southern Miss (USM) has a new coach, plenty of returning talent and an improved attitude. USM must now go on the road and prove it, a task that won’t come easy against the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday (12:30 PM ET). USM will lose the game SU but looks good ATS at +17 ½. Auburn is more talented but it has a few issues on offense. USM is capable of throwing an early scare into the Tigers. TV-ESPN-GP/Raycom/Yahoo.

East Carolina, fresh off its spanking of Virginia Tech will sit like a spider waiting on a new fly to hit the web when West Virginia invades Greenville, N.C. for this one (4:30 PM ET). Can one statement win follow another for the Pirates? West Virginia is favored by -8 but could be headed for an ambush. It could be close. Skip Holtz and his East Carolina Pirates are for real. TV- ESPN

Cincinnati thinks it’s ready for the Big-Time and is ready to show the world on. If so, they picked a good place to do it at Norman, Okla.,(3:30 PM ET) against the OU Sooners. The Bearcats are listed as +21 ½ road dogs. OU is loaded but the Cincinnati defense will keep the score low. The Bearcat at +21 ½ has some value. OU will win SU. TV-ABC/ESPN-GP.

The ACC is seeking salvation after last week’s debacle (do we need to explain it?) and looks to Wake Forest as its redeemer. The Demon Deacons host the Ole Miss Rebels and their new coach, former Hog-Man Houston Dale Nutt into Winston-Salem, N.C. for its home opener. Oddsmakers like WF by -8 and -330 ML. Ole Miss and Wake each had it easy against bad competition to open the season. This game looks to be a good battle. We like Ole Miss +8 but WF should take it SU. TV-ABC/ESPN-GP.

Florida’s Urban Meyer really knows how to pour salt in a wound. Meyer this week claimed Florida to be the real ‘U’, poking fun at how the school to the south, Miami refers to itself as ‘U’. Miami has the pleasure of playing the Florida Gators at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Fla., in front of a national prime-time (8:05 PM ET) ESPN audience Saturday. The Gators are listed as 21 ½ point favorites in this one. Money lines and total were not available at press deadline. In week-one Florida got its kinks worked out against Hawaii while Miami whipped up on Charleston Southern (FCS) 52-7. We like the Gators -21 ½.

Other great match-ups and odds for Saturday Sep. 6. (Sportsbook.com)

Texas Tech -10 ½  @ Nevada, (too bad this total is not available)

Penn State -16 ½ vs. Oregon State

BYU -9 ½ @ Washington

Texas A&M -3 @ New Mexico. This would be a double-digit line had A&M not lost to Arkansas State in week-one. We like the Aggies in this one.

Cal -13 ½ @ Washington State

South Florida -14 @ Central Florida

Kansas -20 ½ vs. Louisiana Tech (KU has the habit of burying lesser competition in Lawrence. Ok, so LT beat Mississippi State at home, so what…KU rolls.)

Utah -22 vs. UNLV (Take out a second mortgage. UNLV has won three games in two years and Utah State was two of them.) Utah rolls in Salt Lake.

Texas -26 ½ @ UTEP. The Miners got pounded at Buffalo in week-one.

Arkansas -13 vs. Louisiana-Monroe. This is actually a UL-M home game played in Little Rock. Go figure! Hogs will cover this line.

Tulsa -21 ½ @ North Texas. Take out a third-mortgage for this one. Golden Hurricanes led the nation in offense last year and aren’t slowing down in 2008.
