The Bruins offense will be without a number of huge contributors from last season, but there's plenty of talent on hand looking to step in and make a name for themselves. However, don't expect the 2006 UCLA Bruins to come near matching the thirty nine points per game from a year ago. The defense was so bad last season that head coach Dorrell brought in DeWayne Walker to solve the problem this season. He is a no-nonsense guy who learned under the likes of Pete Carroll, Bill Belichick, and Greg Walker. He'll be asked to improve a stop unit that was close to last in the league in terms of total, rushing, and scoring defense.

Even with only six returning starters, look for the Bruins stop unit to carry a much different swagger this season. Special Teams returns both kickers, but takes a huge hit on returns with the departure of Maurice Drew. With fewer starters returning and an overhauled coaching staff, it will take some time for this group to gel. The schedule will test the new look Bruins with road trips to Notre Dame, Oregon, Cal, and Arizona State. They won't come near double-digit wins this season, but they could flirt with bowl eligibility.
