It’s between two actors, Daniel Day Lewis and maybe Tommy Lee Jones. Daniel Day Lewis knocked it out of the park in There will be Blood and has the SAG Award to prove it.

Clooney has a win for Best Supporting Actor for Syriana and a win for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Good Night, and Good Luck. Besides those, I think he’s know where near as talented as the other actors in this years’ nominations. Maybe try again next year George. George Clooney – Michael Clayton at 19/2 to win.

Without a doubt Daniel Day Lewis should win this award. In recent Oscar history, the winner of the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor, has gone on to win the Oscar for Best Actor. His acting in this movie was absolutely mind blowing; he took it to a whole other level. I haven’t seen superb acting like this since Forest Whitaker in The Last King of Scotland. If he doesn’t win, it’s a sure setup.  Daniel Day Lewis – There will be Blood at 1/13 to win.

This movie is a musical, I repeat musical. It should be Best Actor in a Musical, not Best Actor. Still Johnny is a great actor but I don’t think he has a chance with the other heavy hitters in the forerunning. It’ll be a major upset if he won, not to knock down Johnny’s acting. Johnny Depp – Sweeny Todd at 10/1 to win.

Haven’t seen it and never really heard of it. One thing that scares me a bit about this Oscar nod is that the people that pick the winners tend to favor actors who have been in the business for a long time and haven’t received any glorification. This nod scares me and don’t be surprised if he gets the win. Tommy Lee Jones – In the Valley of Elah at 25/1 to win.

Eastern Promises is an average movie with great acting. The biggest part of this movie that got him the Oscar nod was his accent. He plays an undercover Russian mobster with a thick Russian accent. Once again he did a great job of acting but Daniel Day-Lewis took it to another level. Viggo Mortensen – Eastern Promises at 25/1 to win.

The 80th Annual Oscar Show airs on Sunday February 24th, 2008.
