Free Oscar Pick: Best PictureBodogLife.com has posted Oscar odds on which film will win the 80th Annual Academy Awards for Best Picture making No Country for Old Men the favorite to win at 2 to 5 odds.  The big wigs that choose the Academy Awards winners love films set in the early time periods. Atonement might be the one this year to win and has decent odds. Juno is another film that has an outside chance at 6 to 1 odds.

Here is a complete breakdown of the 80th Annual Academy Awards Best Picture category for Point-Spreads.com readers:

Atonement is a movie about a British romance that spans several decades. Fledgling writer Briony Tallis, as a 13-year-old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister's lover of a crime he did not commit. Directed by Joe Wright and written by Ian McEwan and Christopher Hampton. Boring time piece that I wouldn’t waste my time on, but that’s me. The people in Hollywood who pick the winners love these movies. Atonement at 6/1 to win.

Juno tells of a pregnant 16-year-old who encounters problems with the couple who want her baby. This movie was good but not great. It was a couple’s movie with no big twists. A survey conducted by Reuters showed that "With the darker and more violent movies up for nomination, the lighter fare 'Juno,' with very relatable and interesting characters, is the audience's choice," said Gerry Philpott, president of E-Poll. Juno at 6/1 to win.

The film There Will Be Blood is inspired by Upton Sinclair's novel Oil! (1927), and tells the story of Daniel Plainview's quest for power in Southern California's oil boom of the late-19th and early-20th centuries. It stars Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Dano. The first thing that stood out to me was the superb acting by Daniel Day-Lewis. I was riveted throughout the movie as to what would happen next. But three quarters of the way through the movie it took a little bit of a dump. Still it was a different style of movie and I thought it was GREAT! There Will Be Blood at 6/1 to win.

The movie No Country for Old Men is based on a 2005 novel by American author Cormac McCarthy. Set along the United States–Mexico border in 1980, the story concerns an illicit drug deal gone wrong in a remote desert location. This movie had people sitting on the edge of their seats wonder what will happen next and who, and how, will the killer knock off next. Great movie with great violence, a must see. One thing that caught me off guard was the ending; it ended as if you said “Is that it!” No Country for Old Men at 2/5 to win.

Michael Clayton chronicles the attempts of attorney played by George Clooney to cope with a colleague's apparent mental breakdown and corruption within a major client of his law firm. This was your typical lawyer movie with big words, wealthy lawyers and corruption. Ididn’t find anything special about this film and I even said to myself “Why is this even nominated.” I think the big wigs in Hollywood like George Clooney. This movie doesn’t stand a chance with the other big contenders. Michael Clayton at 2/5 to win.

The 80th Annual Academy Awards Show airs on Sunday February 24th, 2008.
