Oscars 2010: It’s All About The Gorgeous Gowns!

by Trixie Hammer on Sunday, March 7th, 2010

What to wear, what to wear! Tinsel Town is scrambling to pull together their looks for Sunday night’s 82nd Annual Academy Awards. Rumored color choice this season is winter white! Is white the new black? Online sportsbook BetUS.com posted odds on the color of the Best Actress dress.

The five nomOscars 2010: It’s All About The Gorgeous Gowns! inated actresses are ready to rock the ready carpet but mum’s the word on what designer they’ll be wearing. By now, couture gowns have been selected, million dollar jewels have been borrowed, and stiletto shoes have been broken in. There is no word on who’s wearing who and what color their gowns will be.

Let’s take a look at the Best Actress nominees: Sandra Bullock is nominated to win Best Actress for The Blind Side with 10 to 17 odds.  I think Bullock will go with something classy and timeless for her first Oscar nominated red carpet stroll. She recently wore an edgy gown by the late British Fashion designer Alexander McQueen. She’ll play is safe and probably wear black.

Meryl Steep has been nominated with odds of winning Best Actress with 8 to 5 odds for Julia & Julia. Streep is extremely unpredictable when it comes to her red carpet choices. She scares me most of the time. I just hope she doesn’t wear gray again.

Helen Mirren is nominated for her role in The Last Station with 35 to 1 odds on taking home a little gold man. Mirren is a sexy old lady that loves to take fashion risks! Her favorite designer is Christian Lacroix. Rumor has it she asked her publicist if she could pull an old Lacroix out of her closet that she wore to the Oscars a couple years ago! Maybe she’s bored with fashion or couldn’t find anything else she absolutely loved.

Gabourey Sidibe is nominated for Precious with 12 to 1 odds on winning. I’m really hoping this woman wears something down to her ankles. Did you know she doesn’t shave her hairy legs ? I think she’ll go with a black gown since she constantly chooses bright coral colors, although she doesn’t seem like the type to play it safe.

Carey Mulligan is nominated for An education with 8 to 1 odds. Mulligan has said she’s been planning her Oscar gown since she was six years old. I think she’ll go with a bold pattern.

Tune in to the 82nd annual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 7th at 8 p.m. on ABC to see all the fabulous red carpet fashion!
