Summer Sanders Celebrity Apprentice Odds Season 3: Olympic gold medalist and sports reporter Summer Sanders is “keeping it real” on the new season of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’. You would think it would be easy for Summer to star on Donald Trumps reality show ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ after winning an Olympic Gold, co-hosting the popular NBA series ‘Inside Stuff’, hosting a game show on Nickelodeon, and serving as a correspondent for ‘Good Morning America’ and ‘Today’. Summer admits, she was a bit nervous and wanted to portray herself in a positive way. She said, “It was actually a bit scary for me to even consider to do it, I really narrowed it down to the fact that this was such a great opportunity for me to introduce the country – and perhaps the world – to a charity that I’ve been involved with since its very beginning, which is Right To Play. It was hard for me – for so many reasons. I have real young kids. And for me to be away from them for a month was hard for me to stomach. That’s just the mom I am. I took all those things into consideration, and I really felt like it was just too good of an opportunity for me to introduce people to Right To Play, and that’s why I did it.”
Summer has a second goal in mind if she wins a challenge while she’s project manager. Summer revealed, “All I want to do is represent myself where I would be proud, and my kids would be proud. It’s such a viral nation that I knew anything could come back. I just wanted to be the person that I am in real life on TV. I’ve never done reality TV, so I’m not reality TV savvy as a few of our contestants were. Honestly, I never thought about having a different persona on the show, as opposed to off the show. I was just the same person. When I walked downstairs, and we all got together, I was the same exact person from the moment I said ‘hello’ to all of the contestants to the moment we all said ‘goodbye.’ ”
‘Celebrity Apprentice’ wrapped up filming in November 09. Summer had this to say about her experience on the show, “The things that we had to do and the amount of time we were expected to do them (within) were literally off the charts,” she says. “And I say to people all the time, ‘I love my children so much.’ But it was awesome. For one month, to have the challenges that we had, and accomplish those, versus changing poopy diapers and dealing with tantrums. For a stay-at-home mom to be put in this situation was awesome .”
Summer will compete against Darryl Strawberry, Bret Michaels, Cyndi Lauper, Sharon Osbourne, Sinbad, Bill Goldberg, Michael Johnson, Curtis Stone, Carol Leifer, Selita Ebanks, Holly Robinson Peete, Maria Kanellis and former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Spoiler alert! Carol Leifer was fired Sunday night on the season premiere of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’. Most contestants on the show are picked because they bicker and fight, for the drama factor. Summer stated she had a different strategy. She said, “When I was out there on Celebrity Apprentice, my goal was to raise money and awareness for Right To Play,” she says. “We teach kids through Right To Play to be responsible, accountable, great leaders. I felt like I needed to play the game that way, with respect to my charity.”
She sounds like a stand up lady! She probably won’t last long. We’ll have to watch and see!
