Tonight the top eleven contestants performed on the ‘American Idol’ stage singing Billboard No. 1 Hits. Finally, after meeting Miley Cyrus, Katie Stevens made a mark and impressed the judges. But is it enough to keep her in the competition? The online sportsbook BODOG.com has made predictions on who will be the next ‘American Idol’.
Katie Stevens belted out Fergie’s “Big Girl’s Don’t Cry” after consulting with fellow 17-year-old pop superstar Miley Cyrus. Katie’s performance impressed the judges and myself! Ellen said, “I think it was your best performance so far," judge Ellen DeGeneres told her. "I thought you sounded great, and you look great and you're evolving and changing – you're like the Dakota Fanning of American Idol. I liked it a lot." Kara also liked her performance saying, “This is the lane for you, pop with R&B leanings. Because today you actually moved like you felt the song. It was a different Katie. This is where you belong. This is your vibe. You still got mad pitch issues." Simon said, "I think you could find a more loyal market, I think you're competing right now in a very, very difficult place. And I don't think it's in your head to be what you want to be. Having said that," he added. "It was a good performance." Randy told Katie, “You actually listened to us, you picked a younger song and even the outfit is all younger. I think you meeting Miley Cyrus is the best thing that could ever happen to you . Because: similar age had a big career. The way you look tonight compared to pageant horror outfit you had a few weeks ago, I mean, it's like chalk and cheese."
Katie took the judges advice and wore something that suited her age. She wore a t-shirt, jeans, and a leather jacket.
While talking to Ryan Seacrest, Katie Stevens admitted that she loved meeting Miley Cyrus. Katie said, “I had a lot of fun. So I hoped that showed, because I had a blast. I loved meeting Miley. It was great to get feedback from somebody who's in the business and who is also my age. Miley kind of boosted my confidence. Now I'm going to be able to go out there and have that confidence and hopefully it will shine through my performance."
The other ‘Idol’ hopefuls sang the following Billboard No.1 Hits:
1. Crystal Bowersox, Me and Bobby McGee
2. Lee DeWyze, The Letter
3. Michael Lynche, When a Man Loves a Woman
4. Siobhan Magnus, Superstition
5. Casey James, The Power of Love
6. Aaron Kelly, I Don't Want to Miss a Thing
7. Didi Benami, You're No Good
8. Andrew Garcia, I Heard It Through the Grapevine
9. Katie Stevens, Big Girls Don't Cry
10. Tim Urban, Crazy Little Thing Called Love
11. Paige Miles, Against All Odds
Surprisingly, Miley Cyrus didn’t annoy the hell out of me like she usually does. I’m actually looking forward to seeing her again on tomorrow night’s elimination episode, except the part where she’s going to sing. Miley will perform her new hit "When I Look at You," along with Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato singing their song "Make a Wave." ‘American Idol’ results and eliminations take place live tomorrow night, Wednesday March 23rd, at 9:00 PM EST. on Fox.
