American Idol Betting Odds Updated

by Alexander Banks on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

On Thursday (April 4), oddsmakers at Bodoglife.com , the online leader in entertainment wagering, has updated its American Idol season-seven winning odds for each of the remaining eight contestants. On Wednesday, (April 2) Ramiele Malubay was voted off the show by viewers who weren’t impressed with her performance of “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind" an old Dolly Parton hit. Kristy Lee Cook went into the week as the most likely to be eliminated with a 100/1 odds chance to win American Idol.

Cook’s strong performance during Dolly Parton week, coupled with Malubay’s less than impressive performance is what most likely bought her a ticket home. Cook has managed to remain on the show in spite of being a bottom-three vote getter every week since finals competition began. Again, the updated betting odds have Cook has the least likely contestant to win American Idol with 125/1 odds.

On the flip-side, David Archuleta , the 17 year old Murray, Utah native, remains the oddsmakers choice to win American Idol with 21/20 odds, however; David Cook is a close second and gaining with a 9/5 odds chance of winning the competition. Oddsmakers see 29 year old Michael Johns as the third best talent on American Idol with 8/1 odds. For Johns to win, both Archuleta and Cook would probably have to have a couple of bad weeks which isn’t likely to happen.

San Diego resident Carly Smithson at 10/1 odds has the best chance of he females followed by Syesha Mercado and Brooke White, both with 20/1 odds.

Jason Castro, the Texan with the dreads, has the least chance of winning among the males at 40/1 odds.

In another betting category, Bodoglife.com is offering betting odds for the winning gender. Will a male contestant win? You can wager on that if you think you know however it will cost you. At -500 odds, it would cost you $500 to win $100. At Point-Spreads.com we think that is a pretty good bet if you wish to tie your money up into late May. A winning female bet would be juicy at +300 odds. This bet would pay out $300 based on a $100 bet.
