American Idol 2010: Predictions & Eliminations Week 7

by Trixie Hammer on Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

American Idol 2010 Predictions & Eliminations Week 7: Last night’s Lennon/McCartney songbook selections on ‘American Idol’ revealed the leaders of the pack! The weak got weaker and the surprisingly shy and timid got even stronger. Lee Dewyze shocked America with his performance. Lee has 3 to 1 odds of winning ‘American Idol’ and even though he’s not my favorite, I sure hope he beats out the overrated hippie Crystal Bowersox who has 1 to 1 odds of winning. The online sportsbook BODOG.com has made predictions on who will be the next ‘American Idol’.

American Idol Week 7 Predictions & EliminationsMost feel Aaron Kelly or Andrew Garcia will go home tonight. Both ‘Idol’ hopefuls are extremely talented but seem to lack staying power. Aaron Kelly sang “The Long and Winding Road”, because "it sets up this entire journey for me, on American Idol." Randy didn't love the arrangement but he liked the way Aaron sang it. Ellen thinks it felt like a "long and winding song." Kara said he needs to be great, but he hasn't reached that level yet, and that every week has begun to sound like the same performance. She recommends tempo next week. Simon asks why he chose the song and kept the arrangement. He says the song reflects his journey and he didn't want to mess with a Beatles song. Simon's sorry he asked and says the song was very old-fashioned, "You've got to become young and relevant."

Andrew Garcia tried to give a “cool twist” to “Can't Buy Me Love”. I personally liked it but the judges weren’t impressed. Randy thought it was a solid performance, "a little corny at times for me," but, all in all, "it was OK." Ellen notes that "you can buy love", but she thinks it was a perfect song choice for him. Kara wants to love it, "but I just don't know that I've seen anything new from you this week that I haven't seen before." Simon thinks it sounds like a wedding band. He said the combination of Andrew and the band "got this all wrong tonight. Sorry."

Experts are split on who will go home tonight. Will it be Andrew Garcia or Aaron Kelly?

Tonight’s elimination episode of ‘American Idol’ airs at 9:00 PM EST. on FOX. Rihanna is expected to perform her hit song “Te Amo”.
