American Idol 2010 Top 9 Tackle Lennon/McCartney Tunes: Paul McCartney couldn’t be there because he was on tour, so the ‘American Idol’ top nine went without a mentor this week and made their picks from the McCartney-John Lennon songbook. Casey James (7 to 1 odds of winning ‘Idol’) and Lee Dewyze (3 to 1 odds) stood out and proved to the judges they have what it takes to make it another week. The online sportsbook BODOG.com has made predictions on who will be the next ‘American Idol’.
Lee Dewyze performed “Hey Jude” on ‘American Idol’ last night in his sexy raspy voice. I’m not sure if he knew about the sneak attack from the bagpiper from behind. I liked it but it was weird. He kind of acted like he didn’t plan that or wasn’t aware he was going to have company. Ellen DeGeneres even commented that the bagpiper “got separated from his parade”. The other ‘Idol’ contestants commented that no matter how well Lee sings he’s constantly worried about going home. They even joked about making bets with him on if he’ll be sent home week after week.
Casey James also made a huge impression on the ‘American Idol’ judges. Last week, the ‘Idol’ judges gushed Casey with praise but felt he wasn't taking enough risks to demonstrate his full vocal range. Last night Casey James took that advice, returned to his acoustic guitar and turned in a terrific, heartfelt rendition of "Jealous Guy."
Tonight we’ll see if the boys performance was enough to keep them around another week. Superstar Rihanna will perform her hit song “Te Amo” on ‘American Idol’ results show tonight. Jason Derulo will join her and ‘Idol’ vet Jason Derulo plans on performing “Imagine”. ‘American Idol’ airs tonight at 8:00 PM EST. on Fox.
