Thursday afternoon, only hours before the next American Idol elimination vote is announced, there is a significant change in the betting odds on the remaining eight contestants chances of winning this seventh season of the show.
According to oddsmakers at online wagering leader Bodoglife.com, Syesha Mercado is now the contestant least likely to win American Idol with 35/1 odds. Prior to Tuesday’s performance, Mercado was ahead of Kristy Lee Cook but oddsmakers now show Cook’s winning chances ahead of Mercado with 30/1 odds. Prior to Tuesday, odds on Cook’s winning the contest were dismal at 125/1 odds. The past two performance programs have obviously helped Cook allowing her to perform her strength, the country music genre.
David Arculeta , the 17 year old singing wonder from Murray, Utah is no longer the favorite to win at 13/10 odds. Archuleta has been replaced by rocker David Cook of Blue Springs, Missouri with a 2/1 odds chance of winning.
The only other contestant with much or any chance of winning is Michael Johns of Buckhead, Georgia with 7/1 odds. Jason Castro of Rockwall, Texas improved his chances to 20/1 from 30/1, however the chances of his winning the show are remote.
Carly Smithson at 15/2 odds has the best chance to win of the remaining females though remote. We at Point-Spreads.com expect Carly Smithson to make the bottom three tonight.
