She is extremely confident she can win the competition. Online sportsbook BODOG.com has posted betting odds to win the 2010 Miss America Title and has Miss Mississippi Breanne Ponder with 25 to 1 odds.
The opportunity to participate in the 2010 Miss USA pageant almost didn’t happen for Breanne Ponder, mostly because of finances. Breanne Ponder said that her dad had just been laid off prior to the pageant and the entry fee was a lot for her family. Breanne Ponder said, “I decided I was going to enjoy this, and my goal was to make top ten. I was shocked when they called my name, because other girls have been coached since February and here I am picking out my dress Tuesday before the Saturday pageant.” She also stated that her parents are normal hard working parents and said, “I guess that’s why I appreciate this opportunity even more. I’m just a normal college student who has worked in a daycare and now a dress store. Winning the title of Miss USA 2010 would be awesome. Living in Trump Towers and traveling to promote the prevention of breast and ovarian cancer would be a luxury I would never get to experience any other way! Winning the scholarship money would be great too.”
Celebrity chef Curtis Stone will host the competition in Las Vegas. The 59th annual Miss USA Pageant is set for live broadcast Sunday night on NBC.
