David Cook, a 25 year old bartender from Blue Springs, Missouri, is a consensus favorite among oddsmakers at most online gambling websites. Bodoglife.com has installed Cook a -190 money line favorite while WagerWeb.com has him at -225 ml odds. Oddsmakers at Bookmaker.com see Cook more of a sure thing at -270. “There is no doubt David Cook is seen as the favorite but David Archuleta held the favorites mantle for most of the season and has a very strong fan base,” said Point-Spreads.com handicapping guru Reno Gold. “This thing is far from over. A slip up by either of the two Tuesday night could spell doom.” “For those looking for a good betting value, I like Archuleta at +220 (Bookmaker.com). If you are solid on David Cook then Bodoglife has the best price at -190,” Gold said. Now that the show is down to the final two, the only betting category available is, “Who Will Win?” However, that hasn’t been the case throughout most of the season. Back on Feb. 27, the betting odds at Bodoglife.com on a male winning American Idol were at -170 ml ($170 bet to win $100). Two weeks later on March 11th, the betting price on a male winner had jumped to -300. Last week, with Syesha Mercado still in the hunt, oddsmakers had taken the gender bet off the board. Oh by the way; two months ago David Archuleta was a 2/3 odds favorite to win and David Cook was a 17/1 long-shot. My how things have changed. |
