Was David Cook really that bad in the battle of Davids in Tuesday nights American Idol final? If you listened to Simon Cowell it seemed as if the surly judge was endorsing David Archuleta all the way. Well, he was endorsing Archuleta. Of course he did tell David Cook he was a nice guy. Not a bad consolation really. But have you ever heard the cliche’; it’s not over until the fat lady sings? That’s what oddsmakers are saying Wednesday just hours before the final show airs. Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com still see Cook as the David to beat having him installed at 5/12 odds to win as opposed to installing the other David (Archuleta) at 9/5. On Tuesday, David Cook was a consensus favorite among online oddsmakers to win the seventh season of American Idol. After Cook’s poor performance’s, many of the online wagering houses removed American Idol betting OFF the board. However Sportsbook.com stuck to its guns and is still offering online wagering up until the show begins. “On Tuesday I said it and today I repeat it today. The best betting value is David Archuleta at 9/5 odds,” said Point-Spreads.com handicapper Reno Gold. “With four-hours to go until show-time, I still think Archuleta is the best bet. The kid by far has the best talent. By the time he’s in his 20’s the young man will be another Josh Grobin. I like David Cook alot but he is just too rough around the edges to win.” If David Archuleta wins at 9/5 odds the wager will pay $90 on a $50 bet. On the other hand, the cost of betting on David Cook at 5/12 is $12 to win $5.
