2010 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Odds: It is the Fourth of July and that can only mean one thing in America, that's right, Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. The annual event is schedule to take place at 1:00pm ET this afternoon in Coney Island, New York; the event will be televised live on ESPN. 2010 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Odds at Sportsbook.com have reigning champion Joey Chestnut listed as a -1000 moneyline favorite to win his fourth consecutive Mustard Yellow Belt.

t three years as his eating prowess, along with that of six time winner Takeru Kobayashi, even prompted the event holders to institute a 10 minute time limit starting in 2007. The barrier has not slowed down the champ, who consumed a record 68 hot dogs and buns at last year's contest.
The Over/Under for Chestnut, who claims to have eaten 72 hot dogs in a 10 minute training session, this year is 68.5 hot dogs and buns. The Under is presently favored at -135 odds.
Kobayashi, who has declared himself out of this year's competition, placed second to Chestnut for the third year in a row in 2009 by eating a total of 64.5 hot dogs and buns. Patrick Bertoletti took third place with 55 hot dogs and buns while fourth place finisher Tim Eater X Janus downed 53. With Kobayashi out, Bertoletti and Janus figure to be the biggest challengers to Chestnut's processed meat throne.
Kobayashi is rumored to be holding out for more money (no, that is not a joke), but Chestnut is hoping his arch-eating nemesis shows up and competes.
"I don't know how much he's asking for, supposedly a ridiculous amount," Chestnut said. "You know, it's an eating contest. It's about having fun. I hope he changes his mind and decides to man up."
