Sanjaya has had a busy schedule since he was voted off American Idol last week. He’s been making rounds, appearing on various talk shows. He even scored an invitation to the annual White House correspondence dinner this past weekend. Sanjaya’s popularity is still holding strong and it seems everyone wants a piece of him!
Sanjaya Malakar made a guest appearance on Live With Regis and Kelly Monday morning. He spoke about being “famous”, saying he can’t walk anywhere without being noticed.
"It's really weird. I mean, I'm just Sanjaya from Seattle…It's paparazzi (who) get at you," he said, "and fans come up and try to give you hugs and get autographs. I would love to just be able to hug everyone and give autographs and take pictures, but you can't."
Sanjaya said he wants to do more than just sing. "Like, I really…what I want to do is experience the whole entertainment business because, I mean, I'm not just a musician, I'm an entertainer," he said.

Singer Sheryl Crow and actress Teri Hatcher also attended the event. However, Sanjaya managed to steal the spotlight. He had the longest line for autographs. Governor Elliot Spitzer requested an autograph from Malakar telling him, “I’m a fan, I vote.”
Sanjaya will continue his TV tour tonight, as he will appear on David Letterman to read the Top Ten list.
American Idol will air tomorrow night, minus Sanjaya. In the past, Sanjaya was blamed for the decline in ratings. However, I personally think he helped the ratings. Without Sanjaya, the show would have been boring. Who will American Idol blame after tomorrow nights show?
