Anna Nicole Smith has died at age 39. She collapsed at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida. A cardiac distress call was made by her private nurse from her hotel room around 1:38 p.m. The hotel operator called paramedics immediately. They performed CPR and inserted a breathing apparatus in her throat. Smith was reportedly unresponsive and transported to Memorial Regional Hospital where she died shortly after. Smith was apparently not feeling well, complaining of flu-like symptoms the past few days. Reports of possible heart failure have been mentioned as well as her obvious drug use. Smith seemed under the influence of drugs in recent interviews. Her son, Daniel passed away in September of this past year. His death was ruled as an accidental overdose but is still under investigation. A combination of methadone and anti-depression medications were found in his system. Smith checked into the Seminole Hard Rock Casino on Monday and was scheduled to checkout on Friday. She was in Florida dealing with a lawsuit against Trim Spa.
Officials say the baby, Dannielynn, is in the Bahamas. Questions are being raised about what will happen to the baby now that Smith has died. A paternity test is scheduled for later this month. This will add more fuel to the fire for for the paternity battle between Howard K. Stern and Larry Birkhead. Howard K. Stern was not with Smith when she collapsed in her hotel room. Eyewitnesses say her bodyguards were visibly shaken as she was being put in the ambulance.
Doctors at Memorial Hospital will hold a press conference later this afternoon. Most likely they will not know the cause of death at this time. An autopsy will be performed.
