George Clooney was just named People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive". He is joining his long time friend Brad Pitt as a two time winner. The 45 year old actor will be pictured on the magazines annual cover and will be available at newstands this Friday.
Clooney was named "Sexiest Man Alive" the first time in 1997. People also listed 12 "Men of the Year" which include Brad Pitt, Jamie Foxx, Patrick Dempsey, Justin Timberlake, and Daniel Craig. Clooney joked that Pitt would always make sure that Clooney knew he was named the "Sexiest Man Alive" twice. Now Clooney has the same title so Pitt won't be able to use that on him anymore.
Clooney is heading to North Carolina shortly to film the movie, Leatherheads, which Clooney will be starring in and also co-wrote and will direct. Renee Zellweger will be in the film with him. Clooney also previously this year traveled to Darfur with his father to make a documentary film regarding the bloody conflict going on there. He was also nominated for two Oscars and won "Best Supporting Actor" for Syriana.

People magazine also created some new catagories this year for the list. Diddy was named "Sexiest Renaissance Rapper because not only is he a rapper but he is also an entreprenuer, a designer, and actor, and about to be a father of twins. Twin football stars Tiki and Ronde Barber and the twin tennis doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan were named in the "Doubly Delicious" catagory. Political Satirist, Stephen Colbert, was named "Sexy Suprise" because he proved that men with brains and humor also have appeal.

They also named a catagory for "Sexy Men in Sexy Surroundings". This catagory included Josh Halloway from Lost and Yul Kwon from Survivor. Although George claims this is the last run for him because of age many of his loyal fans beleive that he could give them something to run for for years to come. I don't think this is the last time we will see him grace the cover. I think for him it is just wishful thinking!
