Leonardo DiCaprio’s two new films “Blood Diamond” and “The Departed” are so great the actor is competing against himself for the “Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama" award for the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards. BoDog has the odds at 20/1 for “Blood Diamond” and 4/1 for “The Departed”. Other actors nominated in this category include Will Smith for “The Pursuit of Happyness”, Peter O’Toole for “Venus”, and Forest Whitaker for “The Last King of Scotland.”

Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990's Sierra Leone, “Blood Diamond” is the story of two African men from different backgrounds. Fate joins them in a quest to recover a rare pink diamond. DiCaprio has won acclaim for his accent in the film and credits that to getting his South African friends drunk.

"It was a matter of going there at least a month beforehand and spending a lot of time with South African mercenaries, getting to know their sort of alien language and picking up their slang and it's literally on the other side of the world, so it took awhile but thank God I had a lot of people that helped me out” Contactmusic quoted him as saying, "I also started hanging out with the South African dudes to get the slang down, which is why you've got to get them drunk and then they really start cursing and telling you the stories and speaking in their correct tongue," he added.
Deadly black mamba snakes threatened DiCaprio and the crew while filming “Blood Diamond.” Black mambas are highly venomous and aggressive. Filming would be interrupted when the snakes slithered onto the set. Reptile ranglers were on location to keep everyone safe.
"The Departed" tells the story of two men from opposite sides of the law who are undercover within the Boston State Police department and the Irish mafia. Violence occurs when discoveries are made and identities are revealed. Martin Scorsese, who is nominated for “Best Director”, directed the film. “The Departed” opened to better reviews than “Blood Diamond.” Either way, DiCaprio’s odds of winning are better than the other actors nominated in this category.

DiCaprio is currently dating Israeli model Bar Refaeli. Refaeli, 20, was on the March 2006 cover of GQ Italy and is the first Israeli model to be featured in Sports Illustrated. Strangely enough, Refaeli seems to resemble DiCaprio’s former girlfriend, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
