Lindsay Lohan has officially checked into the Promises Treatment Center. There was speculation in the beginning of the week whether or not the actress actually checked in. Lohan’s publicist made the following statement to clear up any false information circulating the media:
"Lindsay admitted herself to an intensive medical rehabilitation facility on Memorial Day. Because this is a medical matter, it is our hope that the press will appreciate the seriousness of the situation and respect the privacy of Lindsay as well as the other patients receiving treatment at the facility."
After a weekend of hard partying, which resulted in a car crash and DUI, Lohan willingly admitted herself to the rehab center. The 20-year-old is reportedly seeking treatment for alcohol and addiction to OxyContin.
Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan, told E! Online, “I spoke to the people treating Lindsay, because I wanted to make sure she was getting the right care…I'm satisfied they are doing the right thing for her, helping her detox from the painkillers and things. That’s a very important step.”
Michael Lohan was just released from New York state prison last March after serving a two-year sentence for charges involving driving while intoxicated. He has also spoken publicly about his battle with addiction. So it seems the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Lindsay was scheduled to start working on her latest film, “Poor Things,” this week. The producer and star of the film, Shirley MacLaine, still want Lindsay to work on the project. They are going to rearrange the production schedule to accommodate her time in rehab. In a statement Wednesday, the producers said, “We are trying to rearrange the shooting schedule to facilitate her working at the end of the shoot to coincide with the completion of her rehabilitation.”
Police are investigating whether Lohan was served alcohol illegally at the trendy Hollywood hot spot Les Deux. A spokesperson for the club says Lindsay was eating dinner and not drinking. Yeah, surree, riiiggghhhtttt.
In any event, Lindsay will be present for her 21st birthday bash, going down July 2 at Caesars Palace's Pure nightclub. "Just because you're sober doesn't mean you can't go out and have fun," Lohan said.
Now that she has left The View, Rosie O’Donnell is happy she does not have to comment on the Lindsay Lohan drama anymore.
