Mary J. Blige set to clean up at the Grammy AwardsMary J. Blige has received the most nominations for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, with a total of eight for her album “The Breakthrough.”  The album was released in December of 2005 and is said to be the biggest of her career selling more than 6 million copies. Prior to releasing the album, there was talk that after 12 years in the business, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul was losing her throne to younger artist in the industry.  That’s obviously not the case.  The Recording Academy reconfirmed her status in the music industry granting her eight nominations including, “Record of the Year”, “Song of the Year” and “Best R&B Song” for her hit single “Be Without You.”

"I feel so good about the eight nominations," said Blige. "Man, “The Breakthrough” has truly been an album that has helped so many people. “Be Without You” connected with people because it's about how hard relationships can be. But at the end of the day, if you love someone you want to work it as long as they're respecting you. And that's real."

Her most recent project was the release of her greatest hits CD, “Reflections” (A Retrospective), which hit the stores on December 12th.  The album chronicles Blige’s 15 year career and features four new singles including, “We Ride (I See The Future).”  When it came time for Blige to select songs for the collection she went with the “life-changers” instead of the “party starters.” Blige said, “Records like "Not Gon' Cry' have helped women all over the world to say, "I'm not going to put up with this anymore.' . . . These are the records that have helped people."
