Nicole Richie Arrested for DUI

A new picture has been added to the celebrity mug shot list, Nicole Richie!  She was arrested early Monday for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).  In the early morning hours someone made an anonymous phone call to 911 stating that a black Mecercedes SUV was driving the wrong way on the freeway.  Richie was photographed earlier in the same SUV that she got the DUI in.

The media looks forward to celebrity screw ups and Nicole is no exception.  Her publicist has stated, "Nicole is extremely embarrassed by this whole situation and extremely thankful that nobody was hurt during the whole ordeal" and added that Nicole knows she needs to seek more help and is working toward a long term goal of becoming healthy.  She knows this won't be easy but is glad she has another opportunity.

Richie was stopped in the car pool lane of State Highway 134 when officers arrived.  She was taken in to custody after she failed a field sobriety test.  She admitted to the officers that she had taken a combination of Vicadin and smoked weed.  She was booked in Glendale and tested for drugs.  She was released at appoximately 7:00am on $15,000 bail pending the drug test results which were not yet available.

All this drama comes after Nicole Richie was seeking medical help in order to gain weight.  Many have speculated that she has an eating disorder however she has denied that rumor for some time.  She has said she "has a hard time gaining weight" and needed to seek help elsewhere in order to be healthy.  She also recently fired her longtime personal stylist and friend, Rachel Zoe.  Zoe has been targeted as forcing her clients to have awful body images and tries to make them loose an unhealthy amount of weight.  Many believe Zoe has an eating disorder she is trying to hide.
