Nicole Richie could be following Paris Hilton’s footsteps and spending time behind bars. Paris was recently let out of jail after serving 5 days but oddsmakers at BetUS.com still has Richie’s BFF a long shot at +15000 odds that the celebutant will replace Rosie O'Donnell on The View.
Nicole will know her fate by the end of the month. The possibility of jail time is looking pretty good considering Richie already has a previous DUI conviction under her belt. Nicole Richie could find herself in hotter water than Paris Hilton because this is not her first offense.
In December of 2006, Richie was arrested for driving under the influence. She was spotted entering the Ventura Freeway in the wrong direction. Nicole willingly told police she smoked marijuana and took the prescription painkiller Vicodin, after she flunked the sobriety tests. In February 2007, Richie pleaded not guilty to the DUI offense.
In February 2003, Richie was arrested in Malibu, California for driving with a suspended license and possession of heroin. She later entered rehab.
"I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, of course," she said. "I'm scared also but I'm willing to face whatever consequences come my way and I take responsibility for what I have done."
When asked about Paris Hilton's probation violation and Lindsay Lohan's recent arrest, Nicole avoided the questions by saying she can only speak for herself.
"I can't really speak for anyone else but me," said Richie. "I'm 25 and I'm still growing up and I have made some bad choices, just like anyone I'm sure. So now I just have to deal with the consequences. Of course, jail is a not a great consequence, but I brought it on myself."
If Richie is found guilty, she will most likely face a stronger penalty than her BFF Paris. She can be sentenced anywhere from 90 days to a year and have her license suspended for a longer period of time.
