Paris Hilton: Rehires publicist and fans start Petition DriveParis Hilton has rekindled her relationship with the publicist she fired last weekend after being sentenced to 45 days in jail. Elliot Mintz confirmed to the Associated Press today that he is representing Paris Hilton.

"I represent Paris and I'm proud to," Elliot Mintz said.

On Friday, Hilton was ordered to serve a 45-day jail term for a probation violation stemming from an alcohol related-reckless driving offense she received last year. BetUS.com has odds at +500 that Paris Hilton will announce that jail is hot.

Hilton told the judge that Elliot Mintz had informed her it was all right to drive for work obligations. When the judge asked if she had read the paperwork about the suspended license, Hilton replied, “I have people who do that for me. I just sign what people tell me to sign."

Mintz took the stand in her defense, but the judge said his testimony was worthless. Paris will have to turn herself in by June 5th. She was denied alternative methods such as work release, furloughs, community service, or electronic monitoring.

"I feel that I was treated unfairly and that the sentence is both cruel and unwarranted and I don‘t deserve this," Hilton told photographers outside her home Saturday.

Fans have posted a petition on the Internet urging Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon her.

“We, the founders of FreeParis.org, make an appeal to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer, and The City/County of Los Angeles on behalf of Paris Whitney Hilton, who was arrested on February 27, 2007 in connection with violating her probation, and sentenced to 45 days in county jail.”

The FreeParis.org website also offers “Free Paris” t-shirts and bumper stickers for her supporters.

"Paris should get special treatment, after all she is a celebrity," commented Point-Spreads.com gossip columist Chatty Kathy.

Paris Hilton’s lawyers have filed a formal notice of appeal on Monday. If the appeal is denied, Hilton will have to report to the 2,200-inmate Century Regional Detention Facility south of downtown Los Angeles by June 5th. That’s not hot!
