Paris Hilton was transferred back to Lynwood’s Century Regional Detention Center late last night. Hilton had been staying in the medical unit at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, costing taxpayers more than $1000 per night. Paris’ medical condition has improved in recent days, prompting the Sheriff to transfer Hilton back to the all-women’s jail where she originally began serving her sentence.
Hilton was reportedly handcuffed and dressed in her jailhouse ensemble, and transferred back to Lynwood in a deputy vehicle. Bodog.com has posted betting odds of 12/1 that Paris Hilton will be the next celebrity arrested for DUI.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Spokesperson Steve Whitmore said Paris Hilton’s medical condition is stable. She will be housed in the medical ward at the Lynwood facility and she will remain under close observation by medical staff. Paris will eventually move into her old cell when the medical staff feels she is ready.
TMZ questioned Whitmore whether the Sheriff’s decision to transfer Hilton had anything to do with the media. Whitmore responded, "No, the Sheriff, after he gets consultation and receives the best information available, makes the decision."
Sheriff Lee Baca is still under heavy fire for his decision to reassign Paris Hilton to house arrest last week. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has asked the Sheriff to make a public report providing “the reasons for the premature release of Paris Hilton from the Sheriff's Century Regional Detention Facility.”
Steve Whitmore did confirm Paris Hilton will be released on June 25th.
