I have a bold prediction to make. I think Blake Lewis will become the next American Idol winner when the votes are counted after Tuesday night’s finale. Oddsmakers at Bookmaker.com disagree as they predict Jordin Sparks will win the competition based on the -400 odds they have bestowed upon her. Lewis on the other hand is considered the underdog with +300 odds.
You might ask; why do you think Blake will become the next American Idol? My answer to that question is; the oddsmakers don’t have any more of a clue who will win than the dog curled around my feet. Need I remind you, a week ago it was Melinda Doolittle whom oddsmakers favored on Monday prior to Tuesdays performance show as the least likely contestant to be eliminated with +645 odds. Blake had suffered two consecutive lackluster weeks of reviews from the judges (especially Simon) and was considered a slam-dunk to be voted off. And weren’t we surprised!
Of course my opinion is subject to change once I see the remaining two, Blake and Jordin, in their final performance’s but as of today (Monday) I think Blake at +300 is worth the risk. I have been doing my homework and according to some straw polls taken Blake will be the final contestant standing at center state at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood when it’s all over.
When asked via a Friday conference call, Simon Cowell refused to make a prediction on who he thinks will win American Idol.
“I can’t call it at this stage because I think they’ve both got different strengths. One is a better entertainer and one is a better singer, so it will be down to what they do (during Tuesday night’s final performance show.)”
Both Sparks and Lewis will perform three songs each during the final performance episode. The songs will be chosen by the song writing contest winner, a song of their own choice and a third song that they previously performed during Idol 6.
