That is a new term used to describe celebrities that have been pressured by the media to reveal they're gay, said Reichen Lehmkuhl, boyfriend of 'N Sync star Lance Bass. "It's to be outed by someone in the public media and to a celebrity, and Neil Patrick Harris, I understand, has been 'lanced,"' Lehmkuhl said in a recent interview. The term was coined, he said, after Bass revealed earlier this year that he is gay.
“American Idol” alumni Katharine McPhee sat next to Clay Aiken at the American Music Awards and confirmed that Rosie “Lanced” Aiken. “She did. She kind of outed Clay,” McPhee told reporters on the Red Carpet. “That’s his personal business that no one really knows.”
Since the news broke, BetUS.com had to remove Clay Aiken from their odds on which celebrity would be “outed” next. Bettors that had Aiken made some easy money.
At the very least everyone in America realizes Clay Aiken has a good sense of humor after making a joke about the incident on stage with Tori Spelling at the American Music Awards. Apparently, Barbara Walters reported on the "View" that Rosie and Clay spoke off camera but it is not known what was discussed. If Clay is gay many people believe that Rosie inadvertently “lanced” him in the process.
Rosie is not the only one that has claimed Aiken is gay. The self proclaimed “Queen of All Media” Perez Hilton has been calling Clay Aiken out for months. Hilton has already established the moniker Gayken which really displeases Aiken’s core fan base.
As reported in a recent LA Times interview, Hilton stated "I am never gonna take ownership of someone's coming out — that's their moment, and their decision. I will say that I may be leading the conversation, and I might grease the wheel and make it easier for them."
Perez Hilton has build his Hollywood gossip blog into a huge internet success story, his website at www.perezhilton.com gets 2.5 million unique visitors per day making it one of the busiest sites on the web. Hilton is in high demand these days, he is working on a reality show, featured in the December 2006 issue of GQ, co-hosting MTV's New Year's Eve special, will appear on the cover of the Advocate next month and was just named to a list of 25 powerful Latinos by the New York Post.
Their has been plenty of speculation that several high profile athletes are actually gay and afraid to come out of the closet in fear it will ruin their professional sports career. One such player is Peyton Manning. Manning is currently at +350 that he will be the next celebrity to be “lanced”.
