 Week after week, Sanjaya Malakar’s popularity grows stronger and stronger. He is so popular, presidential candidates are being asked about him. Last week, Hillary Clinton was conducting a radio interview on WOKQ-FM in New Hampshire, when a caller phoned in and asked what she thought of the American Idol contestant, Sanjaya Malakar."That's the best question I've been asked in a long time. Well, you know, people can vote for whomever they want. That's true in my election, and it's true on American Idol, " the former First Lady replied as she laughed. Hillary Clinton is not the only political figure Sanjaya is receiving support from. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and apologized for being late saying she had to vote for Sanjaya Malakar. People seem to really be rooting for this kid regardless of if they like him or not. Former American Idol contestant Paris Bennit made a bitter comment to TMZ.com saying, “We want to see him win because it'll kind of prove that 'American Idol' is kind of losing its taste, it kinda isn't going for talent anymore and more for popularity." Bennit is just jealous that Sanjaya is more popular than her, but she is still on his side hoping he wins. Is something wrong here? We can only wonder what Sanjaya will do this week. His “not horrible” rendition of “Besame Mucho” received praise and has been considered his best performance yet. Will he be able to top it with a country hit? Either way I’m confident Sanjaya will be sticking around for another week no matter what he sings! Martina McBride will join the remaining seven contestants tomorrow for “country night.” Tune into American Idol at 8:00 PM EST on Fox.
