Who Gets the American Idol Axe Wednesday Night: Prediction and Betting Odds HereTonight on American Idol another contestant will be eliminated and part of the fun is guessing who. And for sure, up to 35 million people will tune in to find out who goes and who stays. At Point-Spreads.com we have a pretty good idea of who gets the cut but we have been stumped in the past.

First let’s review who we think is the top three and we have the betting odds to back it up. We think the next Idol winner will be Melinda Doolittle the backup singer from Brentwood, Tennessee. And so do the oddsmakers at sportsbook BoDog.com, showing the soft spoken and big voiced Doolittle the favorite to win it all at 1/2 odds. She didn’t hurt herself from Tuesday night’s performance as she sang beautifully “As Long As He Needs Me” from the musical “Oliver.”

Lakisha Jones is the next favorite to win Idol at 2/1 odds and sang “Diamonds Are Forever” a song made famous by Shirley Bassey and the theme song for the James Bond flick of the same name. We liked her performance but the judges weren’t falling out of their chairs over it. Lakisha at one time in the competition was considered the top talent but has been surpassed by Doolittle and currently Jordin Sparks is quickly moving up.

Jordin Sparks, the 17 year old beauty is now a 3/1 odds favorite to win Idol, sang “I Who Have Nothing” another Shirley Bassey song from the 60’s. Her vocals were flawless however Simon Cowell thought the rendition was a little dark. Don’t worry Jordin, you aren’t going anywhere.

Now let’s look at our bottom three of who we at Point-Spreads.com think might not survive the night.

Sanjaya Malakar , of Seattle has been in the judges cross hairs to get axed for weeks but with last nights performance of “Your Got Me” by the Kinks he might have bought himself another week of Idol. This may sound a little unbelievable but Simon was almost nice in his comments. Oddsmakers show the teenager’s chances slim on winning at 22/1 odds however he has shown staying power and he has his fans. We think Sanjaya survives tonight. Especially if teeny-boppers can call in and vote. They love the kid.

Haley Scarnato showed up beautifully or might we say sexy as she sang and danced to “Tell Him” an old sixties pop song by Billy Davis and the Exciters. Haley is not as talented as the top tier of female performers but will probably survive tonight. However, at 28/1 odds to win the competition she won’t be around much longer.

And now, what you have all been waiting for. The Point-Spreads.com prediction on who gets axed from American Idol is Phil Stacey . Yes, Phil the Navy guy will probably get cut after shouting his way through “Tobacco Road” by the Nashville Teens. Oddsmakers disagree with us showing Phil at 15/1 odds to win the competition. Stacey has more talent than Scarnato or Malakar but does he have lasting power? We think not. See-ya-Phil. Of course we have been wrong before.

The other contestants and their odds on winning Idol.

Chris Richardson, the Justin Timberlake wannabe-7/1.

Blake Lewis-how do I describe this guy? But he’s good-9/1

Chris Sligh- the big voiced South Carolinian -12/1.

Stephanie Edwards-she is fading fast and her odds show it- 12/1.
