Johnny Knoxville is the man behind “Jackass”. Originally airing as a television show on MTV, Jackass quickly gained popularity with MTV viewers. Knoxville was discovered by MTV after he, as a writer for the skateboarding magazine Big Brother, wrote a story about self defense equipment then decided to try it out on himself while the magazine’s editor filmed it. There originally was a bidding war between MTV and Comedy Central over Knoxville. MTV won hence “Jackass” was born.
With Jackass 2 due out in theaters on Friday September 22nd, one can only assume it’s gotta be better then the first! Although it has no plot, no structure, and very little production value, there is much anticipation that it will possibly break box office records.
Since achieving his celebrity, Knoxville has starred in a few films including “Dukes of Hazzard” with Jessica Simpson. It was rumored that Simpson and Knoxville were seeing each other while Simpson was still married to Nick Lachey. Although both denied the rumors, the damage was done. That was the start of Simpson’s downward spiral ultimately towards divorce.
Among Knoxville’s gang are Bam Margera and Steve-O. Both have appeared in the movies as well as the television show. Margera and Steve-O joined with Knoxville, and several other pranksters, to create the comedy. Margera was part of the East Coast CKY Crew, which was a group of skateboarding pranksters that merged with the Big Brother Crew. Steve-O worked with Big Brother Magazine in 1997 doing an article for them after catching his face on fire when their tour came through Albuquerque, his home town.
Jackass 2 is expected to be better then the first. Everyone from the original cast has returned except for Chris Raab. It is guaranteed to be dirtier, raunchier, and more disgusting then the original. After smearing the world with all sorts of crap in the first movie, they go one louder in this one. It will unleash a mess of absurdity while the group travels all over the world.
With its expected big opening weekend at the box office, I’m sure this is just the latest installment from the “Jackass” family. These boys won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Their following has greatly increased with the release of the first flick only proving that the release of this one will be just as good if not greater! We will have to tune in to find out!!
