Danny DeVito appeared on “The View” last week for a scheduled interview. He showed up on time however he was extremely intoxicated. Barbara Walters conducted the interview and tried her best to keep him on track but she gave up after only a few minutes.
The night before Devito was out with fellow actor George Clooney for a night on the town. The two were doing shots of limoncello, an Italian liquor, at a local restaurant. Clooney was interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today Show about the subject and he claimed that he was in bed by 11:30pm however he isn't sure whether or not Devito went immediately home or continued his party afterwards. Based on his drunken performance I would say he continued his drinking binge or apparently he can't handle his liquor. He admitted having not gone to bed at all since the night before.

Danny Devito was appearing on “The View” to promote his new movie, "Deck the Halls". He was only able to get out a few rants about President Bush even calling him "numb nuts" and he was cracking jokes about having sex with his wife in the White House. Much of his boozy rants were bleeped by the network censors. He said his wife, Rhea Perlman, made sure to "utilize every surface available" in the famous Lincoln Bedroom when they shacked up at the White House as overnight guests of former President Bill Clinton.
Rosie O'Donnell and Joy Behar, two of the show's hosts, seemed to be amused by Devito's antics however Republican Elizabeth Hasselback, another host, tried to changed the subject to non-political but failed. Walters, the show's creator, was visibly uncomfortable with Danny's interview and seemed to be very embarrassed however she has stated that he will be welcomed back to the show for another interview in the future.

Danny's rep, Stan Rosenfield, has said that Danny requested Ms. Walters' home phone number so that he may contact her to apologize profusely for his intoxicated act. He has not yet apologized publicly for the appearance however his rep also stated that after the show that day, he realized what had happened and was embarrassed himself and could only imagine how he made the girls feel. Devito has always been a funny character so let's all chalk it up to some much needed entertainment during our breakfast hour!
