The set of The View has been a battlefield in recent weeks. Rosie O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck got into another heated argument. The shout-fest lasted more than ten minutes, and Rosie came out of this one looking defeated.
Wednesday’s debate stemmed from a comment O’Donnell made last week regarding the number of Iraqi civilians who have died in the war. “655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?” Rosie said. Conservatives, including Hasselbeck, feel O’Donnell was calling U.S. troops terrorists.
Wednesday, Hasselbeck suggested O’Donnell should clarify her statement.
O’Donnell: “I asked you if you believed what the Republican pundits were saying,”
Hasselbeck: “Did I say yes?”
O’Donnell: “You said nothing and that’s cowardly.”
Hasselbeck: “No, no, no. Do not call me a coward because I sit here every single day, open my heart and tell people exactly what I believe,”
“O’Donnell: “So do I!”
The New York Post's Adam Buckman reported ABC denied rumors that O’Donnell was so angry after the argument that she trashed Hasselbeck’s dressing room. However, ABC did confirm that photographs of Elisabeth Hasselbeck at The View’s offices were defaced, according to page Six.
Rosie O’Donnell’s long-time friend and chief writer, Janette Barber, was allegedly escorted from the building after she was caught drawing moustaches on photographs of Hasselbeck. O’Donnell was not in the building at the time.
Rosie O’Donnell has made it clear she has had it with the show. Last month, ABC announced they were unable to come to a contractual agreement with O’Donnell.
"They wanted me three years, I wanted one year, and it just didn't work," O’Donnell said on The View.
Rosie O’Donnell is scheduled to report back to work Tuesday. Her hosting duties officially end mid-June.
