Sacha Baron Cohen is a British comedian known for his highly successful and often controversial characters such as Ali G (an MC and a gangsta wannabe from West Stained, New England), Bruno (a stereotypical flamboyantly gay Austrian fashion reporter), and most recently Borat (a Kazakh reporter).
All three of these characters are featured in the Da Ali G Show, an unstaged and unsrcipted show in which Baron Cohen conducts interviews as one of his three characters with people who believe that he is a real reporter. His work has been recognized with a BAFTA award as well as an Emmy nomination.
His most current work is his new movie release Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Since the release, the film has brought it more then $26 million. Cohen has gotten rave reviews for his work on the flick. The movie is about a reporter, Borat, who takes a journey across the United States in an Ice Cream van. It debuted at the number one spot.
Bet on whether Sacha Baron Cohen will be nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Borat in the movie "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan"?

Cohen has had his share of controversies. In an interview with Neil Hamilton in 2000, Ali G offered Hamilton what was allegedly marijuan. Hamilton smoked it creating some minor issues with the British media. He has been criticized for his choices of racist and prejudice comments and has also been acused of creating a website under a false name.
Many believe that Cohen's effort in this new film may earn him the honor of recieving awards including an Academy Award. The fact that he has created these characters, created an unsrcipted film, and opened number one at the box office when the film wasn't even available in every movie theater is all the reason why he is worthy of the award. He has proven to be a star and after this movie we can only hope a new movie will follow shortly behind.
