The number two seed in the NFC is still attainable for Minnesota, but the Vikings need help in order to move ahead of the Eagles. New York bid adieu to its postseason hopes last week, losing 41-9 at home to the Carolina Panthers. A surprsing effort 
indeed from a team that still had a shot at the playoffs, but consistent with their play of late as the Giants have lost seven of their last 10 games. Now, at 8-7, New York can only spoil postseason seeding for Minnesota and possibly aid division rivals Philadelphia and Dallas in the process. At least the wheather is balmy in the Empire State.
The Vikings, like the Giants, have been working on destroying their early season resume the past few weeks. Fortunately for Minnesota fans, Brett Favre and company had a little more stock built up than New York. So, three losses in the last four weeks has served only to drop the Vikings out of the two seed instead of out of the playoffs.
Minnesota, which is 11-4 after Monday night's 30-36 loss at Chicago, is presently the three seed, but can earn a week of rest with a win over the Giants and Philadelphia and Arizona losses.
One has to like the Vikings in this game given that they are 7-0 (4-2-1 ATS) at home this season and beating opponents by an average of 14.4 points per game at the Metrodome. The Giants have exhibited some road chops, but mostly during the early portion of their schedule. New York is 1-3 in its last four away games, the lone win coming against the 4-11 Redskins.
NFL Predictions Betting Trend: Minnesota is 4-0 straight up and 1-3 against the spread, dating back to 1987, as a home favorite with a spread between 8 and 10.5 and total between 47.5 and 51.
