2010 NFL Playoff Predictions: The NFL Playoffs kickoff this weekend and strangely enough they look much like the last week of regular season action. Three of the four Wild Card games are rematches from week 17 and the other game is a rematch from week four. The first game of the 2010 NFL Playoffs (Jets at Bengals) will kickoff at 4:30pm ET Saturday on NBC, the weekend's last contest (Packers at Cardinals) is scheduled to get underway at 4:40pm ET Sunday on Fox. 2010 NFL Playoff Predictions at online bookmaker SPORTSBETTING.com have the Bengals (-3), Patriots (-3.5), Cowboys (-4), and Cardinals (-2.5) all listed as against the spread home favorites.
New York Jets vs Cincinnati Bengals (-3): Hopefully, for Cincinnati fans, the team that fought the Chargers to the finish in
San Diego shows up on Saturday as opposed to the one the Jets destroyed Sunday evening. The Bengals defense, which ranked seventh in the league against the run, saw New York pile up 257 rush yards the other night. Cincy's offense looked even worse, producing a grand total of five first downs and 72 yards. If New York can pressure Carson Palmer like they did over the weekend, the Bengals could be looking at an early postseason exit.
Jets vs Bengals 2010 NFL Playoff Predictions – The Jets are 5-3 against the spread and straight up over the last five seasons playing as a +3 or less road underdog.
Baltimore Ravens vs New England Patriots (-3.5): These two squads met back in week four at Gillette Stadium and New England scored a 27-21 victory after some suspect calls in the fourth quarter. The Ravens had more yardage in that game (363 to 319), despite possessing the ball almost 10 fewer minutes. Baltimore, for whatever reason threw an inordinate number of passes — 47 to be exact — of which Joe Flacco only completed 27. It is safe to assume that John Harbaugh may rely a little more on the ground game this time around, especially since Ray Rice averaged 9.4 yards per carry in the last meeting. New England will be without one of its best offensive weapons in Wes Welker (tore his ACL and MCL against Houston on Sunday), which means the rushing attack may play a bigger role than normal for the pass happy Patriots.
Ravens vs Patriots 2010 NFL Playoff Predictions – New England is 5-0 straight up and 4-1 against the spread over the last five years playing as a home favorite coming off a road loss.
Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys (-4): This is the third meeting of the season for these two division rivals with the Cowboys getting the better of things in the previous two outings. Both teams are hot coming into this game as the Eagles won six in a row before falling to Dallas 24-0 over the weekend, and the Cowboys are currently riding a three game win streak. It is hard to go against the Pokes in this one considering their dominance of Philadelphia's offense this season. The Eagles managed just 524 yards, 27 first downs, and 16 points in their two games against Dallas. Also, the Cowboys rank second in the league in scoring defense at 15.6 (13.9 points per game allowed at home).
Eagles vs Cowboys 2010 NFL Playoff Predictions – Dallas is 8-2 straight up in its last 10 games as a home favorite with a total between 44.5 and 47 (Over 7-3).
Green Bay Packers vs Arizona Cardinals (-2.5): The Cardinals got embarrassed 33-7 at home by the Packers on Sunday, but starting quarterback Kurt Warner barely saw any action in the game. Backup Matt Leinart got picked twice with one of those being taken 45 yards to paydirt by cornerback Charles Woodson. Arizona, which is just 4-4 at University of Phoenix Stadium, should look much different this weekend with Warner at the helm. Also, the Cardinals have responded extremely well after a home loss over the last five years, going 5-1 straight up and 6-0 against the spread in such situations.
Packers vs Cardinals 2010 NFL Playoff Predictions – Arizona is 15-6 straight up over the last five years playing as a home favorite coming off a loss (12-9 against the spread).
